I've used several different brands of acne wash/cream and nothing works?
I have acne on my face, not severe acne, but I have some bumps on my forehead and it really bothesrs me. I used acne cream and acne wash and it stopped the redness but the bumps are still there. I can't go anywhere without thinking about how I look, this really bothers me. I've tried everything, nothing seems to work. Is it permanent ... is there ANYTHING I can do to stop acne?

- Proactive works for my son, have you tried it?
- Try proactive.
- I heard Pro Activ is amazing. You have probably seen the commercials on TV.
- I really like the biore line of products and tea tree oil works well too.
- it might just go away on its own
- neutrogena acne stress control system works well. and if you dont mind phone-ordering proactiv is pretty great too.
- aww baby its not permant. its just your skin. keep washing it and sooner or later your gunna grow outta them
- If they're not a huge problem then you don't need to worry about them that much. Obviously, you do. I do, as well. But as long as most of my flesh feels super soft, and clean, then I'm happy. So I would suggest maybe stop using the acne cream and wash and go back to soap and water and a wash cloth. In all honesty, wiping the junk off your face is going to help more than putting more junk on.
- My aunt and cousin both use Proactiv and love it. It has been working very well. However, you could have a form of acne that doesn't respond to salicylic acid, which is what is in most acne creams. You would need to go to a dermatologist and get a pill based prescription in that case.
- go to the doctors and they will give u a perscription gthrn u go to a pharmacy and they will give you special tablets that make your skin clearer
- I've found that Proactive works (suprising!) but I use another moisturizer because the one that comes in the kit is the kicker that dries my skin out too much. Use the cleanser and toner, but pick another moisturizer (I use bliss ounce of prevention AM for both morning and night. light and weightless. no breakouts).
- i have ance too, but i've used and still using Biore cleansing facial wash. it really helped to clear up my complexion and acne, and i get compliments too, so i know its working. Just give it a try.
- There are lots of suggestions for ProActive but it's really for those deep red pimples instead of bumps. have you tried using the face wash called differin? it takes several months until you see some progress but it's worth it. if you're gonna buy it i suggest that you buy the most recent differin face wash. Does your hair brush against your forehead? because if it does you might have a delicate forehead like i do. that is what mostly causes the bumps on your forehead.
- I used proactive and this other brand wal-mart sells its orange for 20$. But they clear out my face and after i get then twice as much. I stopped and now i only have a little. My sisters are now in their twenties and they are clear. It will go away eventually if its not severe.
- The fuzzy thing about acne is that it comes when either a) the bacteria in your face is breaking out b) you aren't washing your forehead enough or c) you're having a reaction to something. Since it seems that you're washing it enough and it's not going away, then I'm guessing that it's C. Have you started eating foods that you normally haven't? Have you introduced a new food to your diet that you're starting to eat regularly? Or are you just having an increase in bacteria on your forehead? If it's the introduction of a new food, then your body is reacting badly to it. Stop eating the new food product(s) and the acne will go away. If not then I suggest going to a specialist who will direct you to some heavy-duty acne wash.
- Hey...I've totally been there. I tried like every single thing I could think of. Have you seen a dermatologist? There are prescriptions they can give to you to reduce the bacteria in your body and therefore, the acne on your face. You should totally contact one. There comes a point when you can't do it on your own and there's nothing to be ashamed of in asking for help...hopefully you'll be able to get your confidence back too. Good luck!
- Have you tried Proactiv yet? I had good luck with that. If not, make an appointment with a dermatologist. S/he can prescribe either oral medication (like minocycline) or something topical (like a cream that contains a stronger concentration of benzoyl peroxide, the important ingredient in a lot of over-the-counter acne cures). Dermatologist visits are definitely worth the expense: there's no reason to live with acne if you don't have to.
- Acne acne acne! I've had to deal with this for so long now..and I'm about to be sick of it. But you gotta realize that almost every single teen experiences breakouts, and acne. Right now, I'm tryin the clinique 3-step acne products, it seems to be workin aight. You just gotta keep usin it, U can't stop until those hormones settle down. aight good lucky, and be confident!
- get acnefree 3 step cleansing kit (its pretty much like proactive, only stronger and cheaper. . .) and then grab a tube on panoxyl (even stronger haha) and then get some vitamin k to deal with the ance scars (and be sure to have some aloe vera on hand in case you get super dried out)
- clearisil (sp?)
- i also have acne on my forehead. recently i went to the dermatologist and she recommened Differin (.3%) and Brevoxyl (4%). unfortunatley i haven't tried them yet. go to the derm. and see what they say
- HELLO ITS CALLED PROACTIV AND IF THAT DONT WORK OUT ACNE COMPLEX................IM NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE BUT YOU SHOULD TRY IT I DID AND MY SKIN IS SO CLEAR AND NICE
- Most over the counter acne solutions don't help in the long run because they dry your skin which just creates more acne over time. (If your skin is dry is is harder for toxins to escape and keeps your pores clogged.) It's really important to keep your skin well hydrated and clean. I had acne as a teen and tried so many different things but in the long run this is what I recommend to keep it under control. If you start this as a teen you most likely will NOT have trouble as an adult and your skin will age well also (not something you worry about now -- but you'll be glad when you're 37! 1. Cleanse 2 x's daily with a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil. (in the morning and before bed and after exercising.) 2. Cleanse 2 - 3 times a week with an exfoliant (I like Dermalogica's daily microfoliant, but St. Ive's is ok too.) 3. When your skin is really breaking out find a good cleanser with an antibacterial. Again... dermalogica has a good one, but don't use this on a regular basis b/c it is too drying. 4. Always use a hydrating toner with either witchhazel or tea tree oil in it. 5. Use a good moisturizer -- you can use cetaphil in the evening, but during the day use a lighter moisturizer with a sun screen in it -- too much sun contributes to dry skin which contributes to acne. 7. Use a good clay masque (Aveda) or Dermalogica's Emergen-C masque once a week. 8. Get a facial - at least 4 times a year - every 6 weeks is ideal. Not only does it feel great! But it will really help your skin. 9. When you do get blemishes -- just put peroxide on them -- don't pick at your face.... you'll get scars and bigger pores, which will give you life long issues. 10. Don't go on antibiotics b/c they will only help for awhile and will contribute to sun damage when you're older. 11. If you have a really big swollen sore pimple, put preparation H on it over night. Just realize that in the beginning, this regime may cause your skin to break out a little more b/c so many toxins are escaping, but it will make a difference.
- I know just how you feel! I had very bad cystic type acne since I was 13 and I'm now well into my 30's. I have tried everything including Proactive, every available medication, oral and topical antibiotic, retin-a, differin, finacea, homeopathic products, etc. You name it.. I've used it. About a year ago I stumbled across this product line for which I have provided the website and I have been simply amazed at my results. My skin remains to be clear and fabulous since I started using this product line a year ago. I get compliments all the time on my skin but little do other folks know that without this product I have terrible cystic acne. This product works by using salicylic acid to exfoliate the dead skin on the surface of your skin. It is much more efficient than Retin-A or any other form of exfoliant for that matter. The benzoyl peroxide serum is unique in that it is able to deeply penetrate the skin surface, unlike other benzoyls which have very large molecules that can't pass through the skin's surface. The benzyol serum gel goes deep inside pores and follicles to kill bacteria and dry up your overactive sebaceous glands. I assure you that you will see results with this product! I don't have any connections to this company other than I am convinced that these products work after seeing the results in myself and several of my family members and friends. I only wish to share this product info with other people that suffer the embaressments and poor self-esteem that come from having acne because I know without question that it works! I wish the product was more readily available and more well-known across the country but they do limited advertising and they are very selective in who they permit to sell the products. I hear that it is very established and known product line throughout derms and spas in California. The products are expensive and you can only get them at very limited locations. You can do a search on the website using your zip code to see a location closest to you. In addition to using the products at home, you may consider doing a series of "blue peels" to get faster results. Your skin will likely peel a little bit and possibly get dry from the products. If that happens, use the products every other day instead of every day. Also, for added moisture use Dermalogica's Active Moist as it will not clog your pours and is very gentle and soothing to the skin. Of course, in addition to using these products, I recommend you drink lots of water and try to keep your hands off of your face. When you touch your face you are transferring enormous amounts of bacteria from your hands and that will cause more pimples to form. Lastly, as my derm taught me, there is never a reason to get within 3 feet of a mirror! If you are closer than 3 feet you are only going to find more minor flaws at which to pick. Keep your distance from the mirror. If you can't see it at 3', no one else can either. http://www.obagi.com/article/forpatients/obagiclenzidermmd/clenziderm.html Good luck to you! I wish you good health and vibriant, clear skin!
