Is salicylic acid good in helping control acne?
I'm taking ampicllin and using a topical retinoid for my acne, and I was wondering if washing with salicylic acid, like Clinique, will help control my breakouts further?

- You know you don't have to spend all that money on clinique. Any facial wash with salicylic acid wins over anything else. I guess the ampicillin and retinoid are for severe acne problems. Good Luck
- salicylic acid is basically aspirin. it also makes skin dry, and red. which the topical retinoid will do, too. also, ampicillin may make you sensitive to light from the sun. if you are using a salicylic acid facial wash because you want to up your level of skin care, you may want to ask your dermatologist first. There may be a reason why he didn't prescribe a wash, and probably expected you to continue using whatever it was you mentioned at the consult. Good luck, and hope it clears up! =)
