Acne Skin Care

Which of these acne care lines work better?

I've been using Proactiv for about a year now, it works okay, but I get breakouts under my nose, on my chin and forehead ALOT now. Also, I think the repairing lotion is making my skin oily. I really want to try something different, and one of my friends uses Neutrogena Oil Free Acne wash and her skin is PERFECT. I was thinking about trying the Neutrogena oil free acne wash cloths, clear pore oil eliminating astringent, and rapid clear face lotion to see if I get better results from them. I also want to start wearing foundation this year, so I was thinking the Almay Clear Complexion Foundation and concealer with Salicyic Acid would do me well. Which of these acne clearing lines would I be better off with? Is the makeup going to work? Please help!

  1. Well for the acne problem try going to a dermatologist they will prescribe something that is right for your face. And for the make up buy BARE ESSENTIALS!!!! It is made from Minerals that acually HELP your skin. It wont clog your pores and it is sooooo light and natural looking, but it clovers up alot. TRY it and trust me u will love it!!! u can find it on qvc or go to bareessentials.com. It is kind of expensive but totally Worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. This completely depends on your skin. The proactiv is probably still working, but the areas you are getting acne at are more than likely caused from hormones. When you get breakouts on the chin and forehead they are usually hormone related. Breakouts on the cheeks and nose and usually the more common acne. Are you on birth control? If you aren't, maybe you should try a low dose birth control to help regulate your hormones. I bet that when you get that controlled, your acne will clear up. As for the Neutrogena, it never worked for me because mine was caused from hormones. I went to dermatologists and nothing they gave me worked either. After I got my hormones regulated, my skin was fine. I think you should stick with the Proactiv and call your gynecologist for the hormone problem. Also, I feel the the best foundation for acne-prone skin is Bare Escentuals Mineral foundation. You can find these for great prices on Ebay. I just ordered a ton of Bare Escentuals for 60% off. Please at least consider trying these products because I have used a lot of different things on my clients, and all of them love the Bare Escentuals.
  3. neutrogena is a really good line of products for sensitive skin and really all types of skin. i used it, my best friend use it and my other best friend use and recommended it to me. Almay is for highly sensitive skin. proactive is for not sensitive skin, can cause redness and breakout like happen to my best friend. You have to see a dermatologist because you can not go trying different products if you dont even know what kind of skin you have. My preference is Estee Lauder line of products for my oily skin.I develop a terrific skin after i used those products. Every skin is different consult a dermatologist and also some beauty consultant.
  4. well try them and see how they work. it all depends are you skin type. your friend may get really nice results with netrogena, but you may still break out just as bad with it. but almay clear complextion makeup works well.
  5. try stridex!!! i use it and my face is great!! but alsowash yr face EVERY DAY wit WARM water and soap!!! good luck!!
  6. Neutrogena has actually helped me, and I had acne. They have this box, its a face wash, lotion, and repairing lotion I cant remember, but the thing is, your skin gets used to the products used on it for a while, so definitely try neutrogena. and for face wash now, i use the cool cucumber dove bar soap. (it works really good if u have oily skin, and doesn't irritate skin) for lotion i use dove daily lotion, its light, which is good for this time of year, and has lots of nutrients. use a purifying face mask once a week, at night, get a retinol (vitamin a) cream. makes skin soft and gives it a radiance. As far as makeup goes, it definitely will help, I'm currently using bare minerals. It really clears up your skin... Ive tryed everything possible from my dermatologist, nothing really helped, and she wanted to give me accutane, but that just messes with your hormones. not a very smart idea. lol. but hey, good luck. :)
  7. Before experimenting with different types of products, especially otc (over the counter products) like neutrogena, clean & clear, clearasil, etc...I would suggest visiting a dermatologist. They are the experts, not us! He or she will know what's the best treatment for your skin. Personally, I at one point tried a Neutrogena acne face wash and it made me look like i had a sun burn. i have very sensitive skin, so I can't use harsh ingredients, like salicylic acid, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide. All of those ingredients are harsh on sensitive skin types. If your skin type is more balanced A.K.A "normal type" than you can most likely get away with testing otc products. I don't know, try what you want to try. Just remember, what works for someone may not work for you and what works for you may not work for someone else.
