Oily Skin, acne, whats your routine?
Hey i have mildish acne and was wondering what your routine was for cleaning your face. I mainly want people from Aust to answer this cos i need something i can get from my local Terry White, Woolies or Coles. I have oily skin (runs in the family) and at the moment i have acne. all i've been doing is not touching my face and putting methylated spirits on my face every morning and night. It seems to have helped a bit but i want to know what you recommend. Thanks.

- I suffer from oily face, extreme oily, I go to a dermatologist and he put me on this product that you can now buy on the Internet, MD forte glycol acid, that is the main ingredient you use and wash daily, you can also buy pore reducer from clinque to put on over makeup or without to keep the oil down, you can buy this anywhere that sells clinque its a cream for the t-zone area. It helps dramatically.
- omigosh stop putting meth spirits on your face from today! that would be doing more harm than good. I'm from Australia and buy all my facial products at woolworths - so hopefully I'll be able to help you! I also have acne prone, very very oily skin. First you should use a cleanser - the best ones are Neutrogena Blackhead scrub, Clearisil pore clearing scrub or any of the Garnier Pure range of cleansers. They all cost about $10 each so not really too pricey, and they'll last at least 2 mths if you wash your face with the cleanser twice a day. Next you should use a toner - I use Garnier Pure pore-puryfying astrigent. It's only about $8 and the best one I can recommend to you. You apply a toner with a cotton makeup pad or a cotton ball and they purify your pores, help eliminate oil and clear pores. After a toner use a moisturiser - My favourite is Clean and Clear daily oil free moisturiser - it's light and has ingredients that prevent acne from forming. It's also a great makeup base and it's only about $10. The moisturisers in the Garnier Pure range are all really good and I used them before I started wearing makeup every day but when you apply makeup over them they cake up but if you dont use makeup they'd definitely suit your skin. They cost about $12 each. I also use a prescription acne gel every night - Ereyacne. It work's so well, before I started using it my skin was gross now I can happily go out with only a touch of concealer. If you're able to go the doctor and get a prescription for this (or some kind of other acne treatment - your dr will find one thats right for you) it will definitely pay off in the long run. they're great. Once a week you should pore boiling water into a bowl then rest your head over the bowl with a towel over your head so the steam hits your face and opens and clears your pores. After doing this you could try using the Bonnebelle Ten 0 Six Mud Mask, which is great. It totally soaks up all the oil in your pores and gives you perfectly matt skin for days afterwards, particularly if you do the steam trick first. Not touching your skin (apart from when applying skin products etc) is definitely key for having nice skin. Some other tips - - Dont ever use regular soap on your face, it will make your skin produce more oil. - Definitely cleanse/tone/moisturise twice a day (morning and night) - Drink at least 2 litres of water per day (my skin cleared up dramatically doing this aswell) - Eat loads of fresh fruit and vegetables, a good diet is key for good skin. - Do some kind of excercise that builds up a sweat at least 3x a week. A good sweat clears pores and gets rid of the germs that cause acne. It will also help you to be healthier in general. Hopefully this has all helped! And even if doing these things dont help - hang in there! Chances are your acne is just a phase and will be over when your older.

- A mild cleanser with salicylic acid can be very helpful. Salicylic is oil soluble so it will break up the plugs that a clogging you pore openings and is germacidal. For my clients, I usually recommend a combination of Benzoyl Peroxide and salicyic. It can be drying and cause flakiness if abused, but it kills the bacteria that cause pimples deep in the follicle. Always wear sun protection because these produsts help exfoliate the skin and will make your skin more sensitive to sunburning.
- I use Neutrogena Even Tone face wash 2x a day. Then every other day I use Neutrogena Acne Scar Peel Mask (its not really a mask, more of a facewash). You leave it on your face for 10 minutes, your face feels tingly, and voila! Any acne scars I previously had disappeared within two weeks. I have tried everything including Pro-activ, and only Neutrogena has worked for me. Thanks to it, my skin looks way better now. I get acne from my cellphone, so I clean it with rubbing alcohol everyday. Also, from pillowcase, so I try to change it every few days as well.
- use ARTISTRY clarifying system. Been clinically proven to 100% keep skin oil free and shine free for up to 12 hours. Isn't that awesome. I tend to break out then and since I started using this twice a day and every day my breakouts are gone. Clinically proven to improve skin clarity, treat fine lines, and hydrate the skin. Contains natural ingredients known for their natural clarifying properties. Moisturizer contains antioxidants and the Hydrolipid Matrix, which helps hydrate, smooth, and protect against moisture loss. Light, non-greasy formula is 100% oil free. Naturally fragranced. You want to look for a product that says noncomedogenic/nonacnegenic (won't clog pores and won't promote acne).
