Under-the-skin acne?
Hi, my question is how to get rid of under-the-skin acne. I don't get very mush acne on my face, but when I do, it's these really painfull under-the-skin pimples. They feel like bruises, but I can barely see them, they just look like red spots on my face. I most often get them on my chin, probably because I play the flute (it's very common for flute players to get zits on thier chins). But the problem is, I don't know how to get rid of or prevent this kind of acne. You can't pop it, and although it goes away on it's own, these zits are very painfull while they're on your face. How can I get rid of these zits FAST?

- put a hot compressor on it ...it should bring it to the head,so you can pop it,or treat it with a spot treatment.try Exfoliating the erea daily.Good luck hon
- clean your flute and chin often.
- i'd try to find a product at wal mart or any drug store really. there are acne mark fadding peels i use to get rid of my scars and left overs from neutragena, or you can probobly type it in on google and find some gel. if it is really bad i would go to a dermatologist.
- this actually isn't caused by your flute. It's called cystic acne and is related to a virus. The only way to get rid of them is to have your doctor put you on acutane or some similar prescription drug. You will have to stay on it for 6 months to a year, depending on the sevarity of your case. as you grow older, they will get larger and more painful and appear in more places. I used to get them on chin, around my nose and between eyes. I sometimes get them around my ears (on my face). Don't mess with them. I know they hurt but trying to force them out is even worse. They are very deep and you can easily damage the epidermus. Look up cystic acne on google. you will get more information. blessings :)
- I had the same problem last week or like two weeks ago, and that baby is STILL on my chin. I tried everything, from hot compresses to a tea bag on it ( i don't know about that one) They suck, i so agree. I put a face mask on every other day, but my number one suggestion is don't play with it, i played with mine and it looked really bad. I wish i wouldn't have touched it.
- I have the same problem as you, I play the flute and everything! I get them in my T-area too, and they are extremely painful. I'm pretty sure this type of acne is called cystic acne. I find that if you wash your like two times a day with a gentle cleanser, you at least get less of them. You should probably use a sunscreen too, and don't aggravate the skin on your face where you get this acne.
- Try Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque as a spotter on the pimple until it gone or a mask. Buy uncoated aspirins (put about 4 or 5 in your hand and add a few drops of water so they dissolve) and you can try baking soda and make a paste. Use while taking a shower as a gentle scrub or if you like and can deal with it flaking, use as a mask on your chin and let dry. I like Neutrogena Relenisher Pore.
- It sounds like you may have nodular/cystic acne, which has nothing to do with how well you clean yourself. If it is really bad I would definitely see a dermatologist. I had very bad acne like this in high school and accutane was the only drug that provided any results. If its not too bad, your primary care provider(your standard doctor) Can prescribe you something like monocycline and/or benzol peroxide, which may be a better alternative for you. Good luck!
- I have the same problem as you, and here are some tips: *Prevention* 1. Cleanse - Wash face with a mild and gentle acne medicated cleanser. Try Neutrogena OilFree Acne Wash $8 2. Tone - Swipe a tightening toner on only those areas of your face that gets oily and pimply (in your case, that would be your chin). Try Noxema Triple Clean Astrigent $5. 3. Moisturize - Apply an oil-free moisturizer on your face. Try Cetaphil Facial Moisturizer $8 4. Treat - Apply a salicyclic acid medicated cream or benzoyl peroxide cream on your chin. This will not only treat the exisitng pimples on your chin faster, but it will prevent new ones from coming. Try Clean and Clear Persagel $6 FAST DIAGNOSIS: - As for getting rid of these painful, under-the-skin CYSTIC acne bumps, you really can't do anything about it other than wait. Unfortunately, these kind of pimples aren't your typical, run of the mill acne, and cannot be reduced significantly with acne creams. Instead, all you can do is apply a cold ice cube on it to decrease the swelling, and a bit of visine to get rid of the redness. But even with this, you still won't see or feel much of a difference. If you would like, you can bring the cystic pimple from under the skin, to the surface, by applying a hot compress to it. Steam your face while in the shower and continue to apply gentle heat to your chin. This will make the pimple come up to the skin and accelerate healing. *******IF YOU ARE DESPERATE HOWEVER********** - In case you absolutely NEED to get rid of these painful, undergrown pimples FAST, you can head to the dermatologist and get a needle shot of highly concentrated cortisone. Swelling, Redness, and Pain should be significantly reduced, if not completely gone, within at least 24 hours. However, the treatment is expensive and only a licenced dermatologist can do it.
- Hey there--yeah, this does sound like the cystic kind of acne. These are the worse b/c they hurt so much, and if you try and pop them you just make an even bigger mess. Ideally, you should go to the dermatolgist, and ask about getting a cortisone injection in them to make them go away. It doesn't hurt I promise, and its totally worth it b/c they'll go away w/in a couple of hours. Another Rx option is cleocin T gel. I found that this worked for me the best on those kinds of acne. http://www.acne.org/prescription.php?view=Clindamycin If that is not an option to go to a dermatolisgist try a salicylic acid product to apply on them overnight. http://www.acne.org/over-the-counter.php?view=Salicylic+Acid Good luck!
