Acne Skin Care

damaged skin [acne]?

i used to get acne a lot. [because of stress and stuff] but now my face is clearing up. i would get maybe 2 pimples a month and a few zits everynow and then. but lately i have just been getting lots of blackheads [therefore i tried those biore strips....they dont work] but since it is summer my face is practically clear. [except for some scars and stuff] i wash my face 2-3 times a day [depending on what i am doing] with neutrogena oilfree acne wash. then i tone with clinique toner and i moisturize with clean and clear advantage acne control [love that stuff...feels so good] and then on my zits/pimples/scars i put the spot treatment on it. [seems to work well] but i noticed that my skin is like uneven due to scaring and my pores are huge [sad i cant fix that] but what can i do to make it better looking. also i drink lots of water and keep hands away and wash my sheets and all the other precautions for acne. i cannot go to a dermatologist [mom wont take me] and NO PROACTIV ....hate it!!! and i have maybe 3 bumps on my forehead that are NOT ACNE. what should i do? i am running out of ideas. oh and i use bare minerals makeup when i go out but when i am just around the house i dont wear any makeup. duhh!!! of course i know what acne is and how you get it. im not stupid!!! and i hate clinique and i said that i couldnt go to a derm.

  1. wow you have alot of skin issues dont you?
  2. Well there are those acne mark fading peels (I think Neutrogena makes it....) Maybe a derm might be able to help you with some of the unevenness. And you're right about not being able to "shrink" your pores, but you might want to try a "pore minimizing" lotion that gives the appearance of smaller pores....make sure it's non-comedonegenic though. P.S Heavy makeup on larger pores makes them looks bigger, since the makeup tends to settle and make pores look HUGE. Be sure to EXFOLIATE!
  3. Change your moisturizer. I love Clinique, but that lotion is very clogging. They offer a gel. Or switch to a tinted moisturizer. Also, mineral makeup does not sit well on large pores. Would your mom take you to a spa where they do micro-derm or peels? If so, go get a consultation. They can reccomend what is best for your skin.
  4. Acne is due to hormonal changes, bad diet and unhealthy skin care habits. Sometimes, dandruff in the hair can also cause acne. Include green leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet. Drink a lot of water regularly to flush out toxins. Avoid deep fried snacks. More home remedies available at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html...
