Acne Medication Pregnancy Knowledge Base

Acne medication in pregnancy? I am 9 weeks pregnant with my second child. I have been using a daily moisturizer with salicylic acid in it, to prevent acne, for years now. Not even thinking, I've been using the moisturizer throughout the beginning of this pregnancy. I read the other day that it is not good to use acne medications during pregnancy because it can cause defects to the baby. Has anyone else used this during pregnancy? If so, what was the outcome? Thank you :) Also, I do not plan on using this anymore. I already bought a new cream, that does not have acne medication in it. I just want to know if the exposure that has already been made will cause any problems.
acne medication and pregnancy? I have been taking prescribed medicine for more than 15 years for acne - including 4 courses of Roaccutance many years ago. For the last few years I have maintained good skin by taking Oxytetracycline. However, I have just got married and we hope to start a family within the next 2 years, so I have stopped taking the medication in order to 'clean' my system of the drug. I've only been off it 2 months, but already my skin has got very bad again - even though I'm nearly 32. My face is like an oil slick for most of the day. I am distraught because I had hoped by skin would have dried out by this stage. Is there ANY medication that is safe to take if you are trying for a baby?
Pregnancy and acne medication? I am 4 months pregnant and dealing with horrible acne. Before I was pregnant, I was on differin gel prescribed by a dermatologist. Now I cant take that and I was just wondering if there is any over the counter meds that ARE SAFE to use during pregnancy?
Topical Acne Medications and Pregnancy? I'm 13 weeks pregnant and have been using Clearasil Adult Tinted Treatment Cream for spot treatment for the last year or two, including my pregnancy to this point. I just read that acne medications are dangerous and shouldn't be used, but this is the first time I've heard this! Still scares me though. The active ingredient for mine is sulfur resorcinol (1% resorcinol and 8% sulfur). I tried to search but found nothing on this medication...only benzoyl peroxide and astringents. Could this have been really bad for the baby? I plan on asking my Dr soon, but my next appt. is a week from now. Thanks.
Are there any specific topical acne medications that should be avoided during pregnancy? I heard that salicylic (sp?) acid could be dangerous, but what about things like pro-active or things comparable to that (I think they contain benzoyl peroxide)? I'm so thrilled to be pregnant but my skin has gone crazy! lol
Yet another pregnancy acne question.....? Ok, I am really starting to feel very self-conscious about the acne on my face, chest and back. I have been on Erythromycin gel and Finacea cream for several weeks and nothing has improved. Of course, I was told no benzoyl or salycylic products. Has ANYBODY tried anything that has worked????? I am going into my 16th week, so please don't tell me things will improve after my first trimester- they are definitely not. Oh, I am 31 and have dealt with some form of adult acne for most of my life. It finally took 6 months of Accutane to clear me up. Could this mean that there is no real pregnancy- safe medication that will help me? I appreciate any real advice.
I used Differin and Duac (both acne medication) before I found out I was pregnant. Is my baby ok..? Hi, I have acne and was on acne medication using Differin and Duac before I found out I was pregnant. I used these product at least 2 to 3 weeks into my pregnancy. I then stopped and was advised that benzoyl peroxide was safe which I used Oxy cleanser 3 times in my 7th week where I was later told that wasn't safe either. Now I am worried about the fetus. Have I caused too much damage already?
Acne During Pregnancy --? Anybody that is experiencing or has experienced acne during pregnancy, have you taken any doctor prescribed medication for it (if so, what)? If you didn't go to a dermatologist, what over-the-counter cleansers, creams, etc., did you use that helped alleviate break-outs? I'm getting more break-outs than before I was pregnant and I'm wondering what has worked for other women. I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant with my first and just want to be careful. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.
how long does it take for medication to completely flush out of your body? I am taking medication for acne right now that is not recommended for pregnancy, if I stopped taking it right now how long should I wait till it's safe for my husband and I to start trying to have a baby?
Why so much conflicting information regarding information during pregnancy? I'm trying to do my research to make sure everything I'm doing is right and safe for my baby, but it's so difficult because every source I turn to tells me something different! Some say it's ok to highlight my hair, others say no, some say it's okay for me to use acne medication, others warn against it. It seems like this is the case for every topic I research. Why is there so much conflicting information?!
Is acne a sign of early pregnancy? My husband and I have been ttc for almost a year now. I recently had a laparoscopy to remove endometriosis, and this is the first month we can ttc again. So, I believe my ovulation day was about a week ago... for the past 4-5 days I have been breaking out all over my chest, and it's creeping its way up my neck and onto my face. I never had a problem with acne growing up, and I've never seen it this bad. I was wondering if this could be an early pregnancy sign since it causes such a change in hormones. If not, what could cause a sudden onset of acne (nothing is working to get it away either... I used some special rub on medication, and Neutrogena body scrub for days, and still, it continues to get worse).
My dermatologist & obgyn have different views on acne medications.....? My obgyn said to go to my dermatologist when I called and said I was having pregnancy acne on my face, neck, shoulders & back. My dermatologist prescribed the following: (yes I told her I was pregnant) Brevoxyl creamy wash - does have benzoyl peroxide in it but my derm. said that it was a wash - put it on in the shower and rinse it off. b/c it was a wash that is rinsed off it wouldn't be absorbed into the skin. Evoclin foam (category b) Finacea (category b) My obgyn is basically saying that it's my choice to take these but she's not giving her blessing - or really telling me what else I could take instead. Anyone take any of these during pregnancy? Suggestions? I've used Olay products - face wash & astringent. Not helping.
Just got prescribed clindamycin phosphate topical solution for my acne. Im pregnant, should I take it? I was just prescribed clindamycin phosphate medication for my pregnancy acne. Im 4 months pregnanct & have really bad pregnancy acne. 1st trimester it was just my face that was broken out. Now it is spreading to my chest, shoulders & back. I have been talking to my OB at my check-ups & he said that if he gets worse he would prescribe me something. SO today, he prescibed my the Clindomycin. He did tell me that no medicines are 100% safe while pregnant. So now, Im unsure if I should use it. Has anyone used Clindamycin while pregnant. If so, how are your childs teeth? Dr said that it can cause their teeth to rot? Any advice. Thank you!! ~Melissa
Medication and pregnancy? There's a possibility I will become pregnant, but will not find out until around Nov. 19th. I suffer from Anxiety / Depression along w/ acne. I was going to start Fluoxetine [Prozac] for Anxiety / Depression and Cefadroxil [Duricef] for acne as soon as possible, to start feeling better. If I start the medications now, will I lessen the chance of getting pregnant? Or if I'm pregnant, the medications will cause me to possibly miscarry? I would just like some opinions. Thanks so much! ;]
acne war during pregnancy......!!!? Since being pregnant i've been getting crazy acne all over my face and body!!! its getting warm here in california and i am embrassed to wear a tanktop!!! i researched online earlier and it said that its all hormonal and it should regulate back to normal skin type after i give birth to my baby girl... but i will still have these ugly acne scars everywhere... so to stop before it gets worse i decided to get some acne treatment... i was at walmart today and i decided to get neutrogena acne face soap as well as body acne body wash by neutrogena.. i heard proactiv products were safe for pregnant women but shouldnt any ance treatment be okay as long as its not a medication i take orally?? if its only used on outside of my body will that harm the baby??? i should of thought about before buying =(
Major break out during and after pregnancy? Hi there. My face broke out really, really bad during my pregnancy. I tried many topical products to prevent it. I am now 2.5 months post pregnancy and face is still breaking out. I have used Proactive, and Obagi skin whitening, face masks and acne medication creams with no success. Every day it seems like new pimples and red spots develop. Has anyone had this experience? What did you do? What do I need to do? Thanks so much for your answers. I'm really looking forward to hearing from you.
How to get rid of acne when pregnant? With both my pregnancy's I've had bad acne in the 1st and 3rd trimesters. It's very annoying! Is there anything I can do to decrease it? Are there any medications that are safe?
Found out today im pregnant, took antibiotics before the pregnancy test and stopped. baby will be fine? I took antibiotic medication for my acne. I thought I was pregnant so I stopped taking the medication 3 days before I took my pregnancy test. Will my baby be fine? I heard it was worser to be taking medication during the whole pregnancy. Thanks. I was using doxycycline
Acne while breastfeeding? I had trouble with acne during my pregnancy, and was prescribed a topical medication safe for use during pregnancy. It didn't really work and I discontinued using it. Now, I have persistent breakouts but am also breastfeeding my baby. I'd like to know: Have you had acne while breastfeeding, and how did you treat it? I plan to visit my doctor to ask about treating it, but would like to hear from any others who might have dealt with this.

Is it ok to take tylonol for head aches sometimes? #3. Are tums ok for tummy sourness? #4. Is it bad to loose about 5 pounds in 1st trimester? #5. Is a little caffeine ok from time to time? I am almost 3 months pregnant, with my first baby and i am so lost....
Is this safe to use during pregnancy? I'm just under 18 weeks pregnant, and I have a horrible wart on my thumb. I am starting a job tomorrow that requires me to work with food, so I think it'd be in everybody's best interest if I do something about the wart. lol I purchased Dr. Scholl's Clear Away wart remover. They are strips that you lay over the wart and it is supposed to get rid of them. It doesn't say on the packaging that it's unsafe to use during pregnancy, and also the active ingredient is Salicylic Acid, which I know is used in some acne medications. Is this okay to use? I asked my OB but she said I had to call some pregnancy hotline because she wasn't sure, but I can't remember the name of the hotline or the number for that matter. Thank you! Who told you Freeze Away is safe? That is the most unsafe thing to use during pregnancy - it is proven to cause birth defects. It does contain medicine, dimethyl ether. Do a Google search. You should check your sources before you give people information that will harm their child.
Is it alright to use most beauty products during pregnancy? Specifically, is it okay to use acne washes containing 1% salicylic acid or anti-aging creams? I am wondering about topical use only, as I know better than to ingest any sort of strange medications while pregnant.

Accutane & Pregnancy?? HELP!!? How long do you have to wait to get pregnant after taking Accutane? I keep hearing different lengths of times and it concerns me...I mean, I feel like if I decide to have a child one day, my baby could be born with birth defects all b/c I wanted to take an acne medication?!! Has anyone gotten pregnant after Accutane? I would discuss this with my derm except she doesn't really seem to have many answers. Treats my concerns as somewhat illegitimate. Kinda makes me feel like I'm crazy or something. I tell her my my leg has been hurting a lot and she says, Its Nothing! Dont worry about it, it will go away!! Is Accutane going to complete clear my skin? Even old scarring? Sorry for the StoryBook!! I just have lots of questions and would like answers from people who have actually taken the medication...
Acne problem while breastfeeding? Hormones aren't being very nice to me at times. First the acne because of pregnancy, that led to a few craters, now more acne because of the hormones due to breastfeeding. So I made an appointment with a really good Dermatologist near by. Do you know if it's safe to use any of the steroid medications he may perscribe, while breastfeeding? If so, any thing any one of you would like to recommend? Any face washes and moisturizers? Thanks in advance
What's it like to be on Accutane? I have tried every form of acne medication, even birth control. What's it like to be on Accutane...especially if you're a girl? Do you really have to get a pregnancy test every month? And get your blood tested? How effective is the drug? I have tried Minocyclin and was prescribed Bactrum a few months ago--no improvement.

Alternatives to Differin in pregnancy? Has anyone found a good alternative to topical Differin during pregnancy? It's one of the "Class C" drugs which hasn't been extensively tested, but I get cystic acne and Differin is the only medication that it has ever responded to (and it completely cleared my acne). I have tried a generic Proactiv and it made my acne worse. Of course a healthy baby is well worth a year of acne (9 months + trying). BTW, I talked with my dermatologist and OB/Gyn Nurse Practitioner, who both told me that there is virtually no risk with topical Differin since it's minimally absorbed into the bloodstream...but most of what I read on the web says that since the risks are unknown, it's best not to use it.
Doxycycline and pregnancy? I am taking doxycycline twice a day for acne... I am on ortho-evra low and my husband and I are using protection. However, I can not find any information on the web about the "facts" of becoming pregnant on this medication. I know that it is FDA level D and that I would need to stop taking it if I thought I was pregnant... however, does anyone know what birth defects this medication can cause??? And most importantly... if the medication is stopped as soon as a "positive" pregnancy result became clear... is the risk still high for birth defects?
How Do You Treat Pregnancy Pimples? I have never been a person to have A LOT of pimples or acne. Now, that I am almost 14 weeks pregnant, I feel uncomfortable because I have more than usual. I know this is due to hormones and increased oil in skin due to pregnancy, but does anyone have a remedy that works? I want honest answers. As some may or may not know, certain types of facial cleansers, medications etc can NOT be used during pregnancy. So, do not tell me to just buy some Noxema, or Nutrogena. Salicylic acid is a NO-NO during pregnancy :( What Works?
can you do this stuff when...? I'm breastfeeding my son is almost 2 weeks old...I broke out a little during the pregnancy and wondered if you can use acne medication...also can you highlight your hair. I am scared cause I don't want to transfer chemicals through my milk. I am going to ask my doctor tomorrow but wondering what everyone else thinks... Thanks the acne mediciation is just topical, like neutrogena
pimples! UGHZ!!!? i'm three months pregnant and all of a sudden i'm breaking out in pimples. i had gone shopping for medication last night, but a lot of them note that they are not to be used during pregnancy. whats the best saftest kind of acne medication i can take to get rid of this crazy acne?!
Okay Accutane? alrighty, i was at the dermatologist's today and i've been on topical acne medication for almost a year now and the past few months i've been on b6 vitamin. My acne still isn't going away. So today the guy mention Accutane. I took the pregnancy test and everything. i've been researching it and now i'm not so sure because i'm going into softball season, and some of the longterm stuff looks sucky. My acne isn't so severe, it's just super persistent, and i have a tinsy bit of scaring. Anyone have any suggestions I'm a 15 year old chick btw
Early Pregnancy Care? I just came to know today that I am pregnant. My first day of last menstrual period was Feb.14, when I spoke to nurse in the hospital this morning she said I am 4weeks pregnant. Is it 4weeks or 5weeks? I have first appointment with my doctor on April13, but I have few questions, 1. I have Acne on my face and I have been using Acne cream on my face everyday. Should I stop using it now? I forgot to tell the nurse that I have been using this medication. 2. Should I not do any cleaning, like cleaning toilets, kitchen .... with chemicals ? 3. I have the habit of moving on various sides of the bed while sleeping in the night. And also I put my legs and hands on my hubby and sleep, someone told be that I should change my sleeping habits. Is that so? I'll also talk to doctor also to clarify all these questions. Aprreciate your help Thank you very much to everyone of you for sharing your views with me.
complexion help? anyone know of any safe over-the-counter acne medication to take while pregnant? i wash my face twice a day and i know its caused by hormones but i'm desperate. i never had this problem with my past pregnancies but this time. help!
Mishap... and on a lot of medication... HELP!? Well... I've been on Estelle 35 for a long time... was only 4 days into the yellow pills of this cycle, and the condom broke our first time properly having intercourse until he ejaculated. Went and got the morning after pill within an hour of this happening, didn't suffer any vomiting or other digestion upsets. I missed the period in that 7 day period, i had just started taking Cyproterone (50mg) for acne as well, and was told it was very likely i missed my period because of this (Before the mishap I took two pregnancy tests out of paranoia despite not fulling having intercouse during this time and both tests were taken a week apart and both gave me a negative result) My question : Being on the pill, and taking the morning after pill after the condom breaking (First time it's EVER happened)...Is there a high chance of being alright? I just want to make sure that the extra Cyproterone I take 10 days per cycle won't reduce my Estelle from working... because I do not trust this doctor and do not have time to go find one for another month. They have given me bad advice about Cyproterone thus far so I want to ask others their opinions. (Eg/ they promised Cyproterone would not make my bust bigger, despite seeing on government health websites that there is a 1 in 5 chance of this occuring) I also wanted to ask if Estelle 35 was protecting me even on the white pills... this was my 3rd month without having a pill no later than 6 hours after time and missing none (Was told you're safe if it is within a 12 hour window). So to summarise : 1. Are they right that Cyproterone would have stopped that period? 2. Will the pill and the morning after pill protected me? 3. Was I protected only being on Day 4 of the Yellow Pill? 4. How long until I can take a pregnancy test? Do I wait until I miss my period? (I am stressing over the waiting) 5. Would Cyproterone interfere with me taking the pill and not make it work? 6. Taking the pill as regularly as i do, does it fully protect me? 7. Does having this many hormones mean I may miss this period too? 8. Are my friends right in saying that after all that my chances of pregnancy are stupidly low? 9. Is it true men can ejaculate inside women on the pill and almost never get them pregnant if they take it within 12 hours of when they are ment to each day? (Although I never plan on this happening again >.>) 10. What else can I do to stop this ever happening again? Or making sure I'm fully protected? Thankyou and please help!

how long does it take to get accutane? my doctor/dermatologist told me i need to get Accutane for my acne (i have really bad cystic acne and nothing else has worked) and i'm aware that you need to sign up, register, and be approved into the iPLEDGE program, and make sure you have negative pregnancy tests. Does anybody know approximately how long the process takes before you actually get the medication? (assuming the bloodwork and tests are completed immediately)

dianette and other contraceptive pills....side effects? ive been having irregular period ever since i started during primary school, and a 1/2 years later i started taking microgynon(if thats how u spell it?) on and off untill 2 years ago. now ive started to take dianette for my bad acne and also to regulate my period - because i have a mild form of PCOS. what i really want to know is, how likely is this to effect me having babies in the future? i really want to have kids, and im only taking these medication for my acne and period because irregular periods are a cause for non pregnancy as well...i would rather not take the medicine. thanks
What is your opinion on Accutane? If you don't know what Accutane is... Accutane is a medication for really bad acne, but has a lot of side effects. They are rare but serious. They consist of deformed pregnancies or stillborn (if you are sexually active, you must take two forms of effective birth control). You could get depression, suicide thoughts, and hallucinations. There is also the chance your hair could curl, your liver could fail, you could lose red or white blood cells, it could stunt your growth if you take it at a young age, you can get very dry skin, and i'm sure there is more. Keep in mind that all these side effects are RARE except the deformed babies and dry skin.
What is an Adolescent Doctor? My 17 yr old daughter's been feeling ill lately, and all sorts of symptoms keep popping up. Her blood pressure has been somewhat high, dizzy spells, bad headaches on the sides of her head, sneezing fits, coughing but nothing like a bronchial cough, waking up throughout the night with night sweats, quite a bit of weight gain, and very very irritable. Her pediatrician ran a huge amount of blood tests on her...and the only thing that wasn't completely normal was that her Carbon Dioxide level was a 17, where 20 is the low end of normal. She was checked for mono, an ANA titer, pregnancy, thyroid problems, etc...pretty much the full spectrum of tests done. The Carbon Dioxide is nothing to worry about the doc said. The only medication my daughter's been taking for a while now is Ortho Tri-Cyclen...which she started at 14 for acne and to regulate her periods...and it worked. (although I'm almost sure that the pill has had yet another benefit here recently). Since her doctor has no clue what's going on, she gave her a referral to an "Adolescent Doctor." I had a heck of a time with this referral. When I called the children's hospital here locally, they said Adolescent only specifies the age that the doctor sees, not the specialty, and that I have to have a type of doctor...like an Adolescent Neurologist, or Adolescent Cardiologist. I called the doc back and they gave me a specific doc's name...my daughter meets with him on Tuesday...but I still have no idea what an Adolescent Doctor is....his title includes "Adolescent Medicine." Any ideas? And anyone familiar with her symptoms?
Birth Control Experts? I have really bad acne and i'm already taking some oral medication for it but it doesn't help that much. My doctor says that if I want my skin to improve I should go on birth control. I want to know what the risks are. I'm 18 years old and I definatly plan on having kids sometime in the next 10 years and I want to make sure that by me taking it now that it won't affect my pregnancies in the future. If you could provide a website for me that would be awesome! Thanks
Help.....any ideas what is going on???? Here is the run down of symptoms since Sept 06: Nausea Abdonimal pain Trouble sleeping Trouble staying asleep for more than 4 hours Extreme moodiness Fits of rage and crying over nothing Lack of interest in hobbies Weight gain of a 1lb/week Fatigue No period after stopping my BC for nearly three months (finally got it after doc gave me Provera) More recent symptoms: More rapid weight gain (10-12lbs in last months despite workouts 6 days/week and diet of 1700-2000 calories) Abdominal bloating More pronounced fatigue Grooginess Fuzzy thinking Uncreased irraibility Weight gain since sept '06 45lbs never had prior weight issues Tests: Blood test: neg pregnancy Urine: neg UTI Abdominal ultrasound: normal Pelvic ultrasound: normal Thyroid: normal as of Jul 06 Current medications: NONE Past medications: (stopped usage in Jul '07) Tetracycline (acne) 250mg Zoloft 100mg (took for 4 months with little to no improvement) Apri Amitriptyln 50mg (to aid sleep I am very frustrated with docs. I am normally a very laid back energetic 24year old. It take a lot for me to even go to the doc.......but i feel like he doesn't believe me. All he wants to do is put me back on the pill, which I refuse because I have had trouble with it before and now that I am married I don't find it as essential as before. The other lecture I got fromhim was the weight gaon is because I am eating too much. I really wanted to scream that I am not an idiot. I understand how that all works. I workout 60min cadio/weights 6x/week. and for the last 7 week I have been really watching what I eat. ANY IDEAS???
I have PCOS, pregnant or not? I have PCOS, had symptoms of pregnancy then had a late cycle. I thought miscarriage. Since I have had another cycle that came two weeks later and another four weeks later. I'm still experiencing symptoms of pregnancy (ie: cramping, extreme fatigue, serious mood swings, even bleeding gums). I realize that I could just have hormone changes due to the PCOS, but I have been regular without meds for two years and have never had cramping and emotional changes like this (and when I did get PMS, I would sleep one day before my cycle, my acne would go away after I started and I rarely got depressed or anything). I also realize that I could just be making my body think I'm pregnant, but I don't think this is much the case either. Anyway, is it possible that I am pregnant? BTW-The gum thing stopped a couple of weeks ago and my breasts were never sore (they never are even before/during/after my cycle.) The cramping has gotten much worse to the point I was taking pain medication for it.
Almost 1 weeks overdue??? SO my man and I have tried everything to start laour... walks, sex, spicey foods, bumpy cars, everything we've heard... we've tried... My due date was may 1st... and my doctor is telling me that i have to wait till the 14th to even think about being induced! I've had a really terrible pregnancy... all day sickness for the ENTIRE time... 5 kidney stones at christmas that I had to pass with no medication... I've had an infection throughtout the whole thing.. kidney infection, bladder, yeast... you name it!!! Not to mention terrible acne all over my back and chest and face! I NEED this baby out!! Is it really selfish to ask for an induction a little earlier than 2 weeks overdue?? Oh and I have another infection right now that is trying to get cleared up... but they just keep coming back and its really doing a number on my baody....
Maine giving birth control pills to middle school students? Are they doctors? Are they prepared to deal with the consequences of giving medication to developing girls? Have they discussed the side effects of this with parents or students? And the kids don't have to tell their parents? http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=15407239&ft=1&f=1007 Let's take a look at the side effects for Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo, which is a very common pill: Nausea, vomiting, headache, stomach cramping/bloating, dizziness, vaginal discomfort/irritation, increased vaginal fluids, or breast tenderness/enlargement may occur. Acne may improve or get worse. Vaginal bleeding between periods (spotting) or missed/irregular periods may occur, especially during the first few months of use. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. If you miss 2 periods in a row (or 1 period if the pill has not been used properly), contact your doctor for a pregnancy test. Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: changes in vaginal bleeding (e.g., continuous spotting, sudden heavy bleeding, missed periods), problem wearing contact lenses, dark patches on the skin (melasma), unwanted facial/body hair, swelling of the ankles/feet, weight changes (gain or loss). This medication may rarely cause serious (sometimes fatal) problems from blood clots (e.g., pulmonary embolism, stroke, heart attack). Seek immediate medical attention if you experience: sudden shortness of breath, chest/jaw/left arm pain, confusion, coughing up blood, sudden dizziness/fainting, pain/swelling/warmth in the groin/calf, tingling/weakness/numbness in the arms/legs, headaches that are different from those you may have experienced in the past (e.g., headaches with other symptoms such as vision changes/lack of coordination, existing migraines becoming worse, sudden/very severe headaches), slurred speech, weakness on one side of the body, vision problems/changes. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur: lumps in the breast, severe stomach/abdominal/pelvic pain, mental/mood changes (e.g., depression, suicidal thoughts, persistent trouble sleeping), unusual tiredness, dark urine, yellowing eyes/skin. Give condoms if you want, but prescription medication? Oh...and I'm a single dad to a baby conceived on the pill. My son's mother took antibiotics and we got pregnant. We're not even discussing STDs here and the false sense of security that giving the pill creates....
Aprreciate your help Thanks alot to each and everyone for sharing such a valuble information with me.
Anyone here taken Accutane? I've had mild acne since I was nine years old. I'm fifteen now and I have the option of taking Accutane over the summer. None of the medications I've been on have ever done very well, but I don't have cystic acne and my skin isn't as bad as normal. I don't have any psychological or self esteem issues because I've had bad skin for so long, but I think this is my last chance to take Accutane for a while. My mom took accutane when she was 35 and was very happy with the results, but I'm terrified of the side effects and have heard of Accutane being the last resort. Is it possible that a person with mild but very persistent acne could end up worse than they were before they took it? Did anyone here have any positive experiences with it? I already know about pregnancy issues and all that, and there's no risk of me getting pregnant or drinking alcohol, so should I take Accutane?
is this kind of spotting good or bad? i use condoms for birth control. my period got delayed for 4 days so my doc gave me Provera(10mg/tablet) to be taken for 5 days. i got my period in the evening of the fifth day of medication. she also gave me ALTHEA birth control pills (2mg Cyproterone Acetate + 0.35mg Ethinylestradiol) since it will offer birth control plus prevent acne. i started taking it starting on my first day of menstruation. after taking it for 10 days, i got shortness of breath, heart palpitations and numbness on my hands so i stopped. i'm now having brownish/light reddish vaginal discharges. it's my 12th day since i got on that pill. i took a home pregnancy test and it came back negative. i did not have sex during the time i took the pills until this time (since my boyfriend went on training for two months and won't be back till June). should i be worried?
Accutane & Pregnancy?
Any advice. Thank you!! ~Melissa

PCOS: If birth control pills took my symptoms away, will I have a better response to ttc meds? I was on bcp's for 18 months and during that time didn't have ANY PCOS symptoms. My acne was gone, i stopped growing black facial hair, my hair stopped coming out, my painful periods were regulated, lighter and no longer painful, i lost weight. Everything was normal. When i came off bcp's to start ttc, my symptoms went crazy and all came back with a vengence. (I'm currently on no medical treatment for my PCOS) Does this mean when I am put on medications to help me ttc, it should happen for me? If bcp's took my symptoms away, should the hormone treatments to help me achieve pregnancy work? Thanks! If it helps, I don't have any cysts visible on an ultrasound yet.
Acne during pregnancy? I have developed bad acne on my back during my pregnancy. The dr. said I cannot use any medications to help clear it up. Did anyone else get this? What did you do? Does it go away after the baby is born?
