What is the most effective non-prescription acne medication? I am a teenager and I get the normal whiteheads and the painful, long-lasting under-skin pimples as well. I have tried many types of acne medication and they have either been useless or made it worse. I have oily skin. My acne is not really severe, but it is still painful and embarrassing. What would be the best thing for me to use? Thank you so much!
Will insurance cover prescription acne medication? My family has Medco to cover drug/pharmacy. My daughter has been having severe acne. We have tried Pro-active but I think she is going to have to get some prescription strength medication (oral). Generally, are these acne meds covered under most insurances? I dont want her to end up scarred for life!!!
acne prescription medication? i went to a dermtotoligst over the summer and he gave me benzaclin to apply at night and this roll on medication w/ salicylic acid for the morning.. my skin has improved a little, but not much. actually, i feel like it's getting worse. it's not huge noticeable red pimples everywhere. it's little tiny bumps, clogging almost pore on my forehead. inside, they're not really noticeable, but if i go in a bright light or in the sun, it looks terrible. can anyone recommend andy really good prescription acne medication for me, this is really really lowering my confidencee knowing its always there oh, and yes i'm sure it's acne and not some irritation. the bumps are big enough to be called pimples, and the dermatologist was basicaly just like.. "whoaa every pore in your skin is clogged on your forehead!". thanksss, i'm aware hah.

online pharmacy that does NOT require prescription for acne medication? The doctors and pharmaceutical companies have most definetly come 2gether to rob the world of their hard earned money. Most dermatology is cosmetic in nature and therefore not covered by insurance. So I had to pay like $200 just for the appointment to have her look at me for like 30 seconds and then prescribe me medication: Brevoxyl-4 (Creamy Wash-Benzoyl Peroxide 4%) and Finacea Gel (Azelaic acid 15%) which cost about another $200. So now to get a refill I have to spend another $200 for another 30 second appointment. Does anyone know a way to get this stuff w/o a prescription?
Fastest Acne Medication/Prescription? I was wondering what is the fastest acne medication/prescription for moderate acne on the face. I will be going to the dermatologist soon and wanted to know about how long I will be free of acne after using the medication beforehand. Thanks!

Can I use Jergens Natural Glow with my acne medication? I just bought jergens natural glow today for my face and body. I have 2 prescription acne creams that I use every day. Benza clin for morning and retinamicro for night. Usually I apply a moisturizer and then apply my medication but since this is a self tanner moisturizer I was wondering if it will have a bad effect? Has anyone else had experience with this?? If so how should I apply it?
How do i get rid of small little acne bumps? i have used Duac but that is for inflammatory acne. any suggestions for a good non prescription acne medication for this? will saclycic acid work better than benzoyl peroxide that i currently use?
What are some good acne medications? I have oily skin and major acne problems. Do you have any non-prescription acne medications you'd reccomend? My skin is very sensitive also. I have lots of difficult blackheads.

I got prescription medication through a friend for my daughter? What a bad parent I am. I got prescription medication for my daughter through someone else. My daughter had a bad case of acne and she was embarrassed to see a doctor. I called my friend who called it in a pharmacy for antibiotics. They got them and gave them to me and I gave them to my daughter. When I got the pills, I tore off the name on the bottle and she happened to get caught with them. Am I in serious trouble? This medication is not a narcotic. It is what a doctor would prescribe a patient with acne.
Prescription medication discounts? Last night I went to the pharmacy to pick up my face medication prescription for my acne. The only discount I got on it was for triple A...my insurance (blue cross blue shield) doesn't cover it (they used to, but apparently not anymore). It ended up costing me $150!!! That's ridiculous. Do you know of any programs through which I can get a discount on my prescription? thank you!
Habit of picking acne on my face and on my back? I tried using ProActiv, and other over-the-counter, and prescription medications for acne, but it doesnt seem to work. I have a habit of squeezing the pimples or the acne of my back, and its irritating me, but I cant stop. Any suggestions?
Does anyone have any suggestions on an acne medication (pills preferably)? I wash my face, I use non-oily concealer, I rub cream on my big zits sometimes at night, but none of it gets my skin truly clear. I'm sick of being what seems like the only girl who has acne in my school, and so was my friend. She recently got some sort of acne pill that really treated her acne and cleared it up almost completely. Please don't answer with "wash your face twice daily and use pre-moistened pads at night" because that is NOT what I want to hear. I want to know about prescription acne pills, and how much they cost. Thanks!
Temporary acne medication replacement? Right now I am going to a dermatologist to treat my acne. They have me using benzaclin at night as part of my regemin but right now it has run out my prescription has expired so it is going to take a week or so to get a new prescription and get it filled. I was wondering if there was a decent temporary replacement for it (probably something with benzoyl peroxide but anything else will probably be okay). I just don't want my acne to get worse while I can't use the benzaclin. Also, I am using differin in the morning with moisturizer , a prescription cleanser, and a prescription oral medication in case that is important at all. (yes i know that it a lot of stuff but my skin just started clearing up after about 6 months and i don't want it to get worse because i am not using the benzaclin) I know that the differin makes your skin more sensitive to the sun but i use a moisturizer over it that has SPF 30 to protect my skin
Triaz acne medication 3%benz. Perox.? This is a prescription medication which sells for 40 dollars. There is no other active ingerdiant other than the 3% benz. Perox. Is this the same thing I can buy at walgreens for 5 dollars or am I missing something??
Good acne subscriptions? im 15 years old..my acne is that bad, but enough to feel self consious. I have tryed pro active but it didnt work great for me. My doctor has subscribed me to clindoxyl gel for the past like 2 years and it stopped working, i guess because im immuned to it now. Anyway i was wondering if anyone knows and good prescription acne medication. im going to make a doctors appointment and see if i could switch to a new one. Also, I am not interested in acutane because it is too expensive.
Good Acne Medication/Wash? (Non-Prescriptions)? Hi. Does Anyone Know PERSONALLY A Good Acne Face Wash? Have you used one, and see actual results? I usually don't trust the big named ones like clearasil ultra, or pro-active, because I just feel better with one that isn't as big, it's just more trustful to me. Usually it's just washing my face alot a day, but lately, the acne's getting bigger (not alot, 3-4 zits), and I cant get them down fast enough by washing them 5 times a day (or so). So if anyone on here has used a was for acne, please tell me -Name -Where to get it -Cost -How good it really is -Any Pros/Cons -Anything I should know before using the product Thanks.
Acne Prescription? What other acne prescriptions are there besides accutane and tetracycline? The reason why I am asking this question is because none of the over the counter acne medications work for me at all. I have even tried pro-active and that didn't even work. I have let them work for 3 months and am using them correctly. There is nothing you can name that I haven't tried. What else is out there?
What is the best acne/pimple medication for a 12 year old? My 12 year old daughter is very obviously going through puberty!! She has started to break out on her face, chest, & upper back. This is very embarassing for her, especially with swim-suit season coming up. Any ideas? I did not go through this stage when I was younger so I'm not sure what to do? She washes the problem areas twice a day with oatmeal soap, and has tried every over the counter medicine available at our local wal-mart. Has also used prescription benzoyle-peroxide, and most recently proactiv. Nothing helps! We have already tried proactiv and it DID NOT WORK!! Was way too harsh for her skin. Her doctor does not want to put her on oral medication because she is so young and after a while her body will get used to it and it will not work anymore(which makes since).
Acne crisis!! PLEASE help! SEVERE? I have tried benzaclin. It did nothing for me. I was on it for six months. Then, I tried retin-A. My acne only got worse. I was on a liquid, but that caused severe stomach problems and a painful trip to the hospital. I'm going to my dermatologist on Wednesday becuase my face is the worst that it has ever been in my entire life and I want to shoot myself because I look so horrible. Here's a picture of my forehead- my main problem. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a378/alcheny/DSCN0306-1.jpg What prescription acne medication has worked best for you? Which should I try? I'm completely running out of options.
Acne.org is the best site for acne help? Since there are so many questions about acne here, I wanted to share a great site that has almost 80,000 members. It's free to join if you want to ask a question, but you can also read all of the posts without joining. Here it is: acne.org/messageboard Here are the categories that you can use to ask a question or read other people's help: Mild to moderate acne - whiteheads, papules and pustules Severe acne - cysts and nodules Blackheads & non-inflamed acne Body acne Adult acne Rosacea & facial redness Over-the-counter acne medications Prescription acne medications Nutrition & holistic health General acne products and oily skin issues Light/laser acne treatments Acne research Emotional and psychological effects of acne Cosmetics & style Scar treatments Red marks left after acne No question here. Just being helpful! :D A question mark is automatically added to whatever you type in the question box, so that's why it's there, LOL. I've been dealing with skin issues since hit puberty, and I'm now 36. I WISH it had gone away after 6 years. But this site gave me great info on lessening it greatly! :)
can i bring expensive acne medication in my carry-on bag? I'm pretty sure both my medications are over 3 oz. and i'm obviously not going to die without them, but i'd rather bring them in my carry-on because they were both over $100 each and i don't want to risk anything happening to them, if i bring it with my labled prescription on it would secuirty still take it?
Acne website? Is there a website where i can check out doctor acne prescription /medication ?
Would you recommend clinique 3 step skin care? I love clinique makeup. I have heard that their cleansers and lotions are great for your skin. I am on some prescription acne medications that i apply twice a day. I am wondering if you think this would be good for me to add to these as well? If you've used it and it's helped or not please tell me your experiences! Thanks a lot
I have a Question about acne? I am on prescription medication for my acne. I also use a neutrogena scrub in the mourning. Is that a good idea or will it have some reaction with the medication.
Need help, acne medication, sunburn, pain.? I dont know where this should go under, im taking medication for acne as well as topical creams, and my prescription says stay out of the sun when taking, well i accidentally got a sunburn on my face where my acne is and now its painful and i dont know if its because of the acne or the sunburn and, im really warm now, i fell asleep at 130am and woke up an hour later and i feel really hot and like im having a panic atack any ideas?
What acne medication worked best for YOU? Please don't say "I've heard that..." or "My mom used.........and it worked." I want to know your own experiences because I've gone through EVERYTHING and nothing keeps my acne away! I've used: Acutane (or however it's spelled) Various other prescription drugs for acne Dry-lo Oxy-Nano Peel ProActiv Toothpaste Other products from Serious Skin Care I think my acne may be related to hormones but I'm not sure. I do take birth control and since I've been on it, my acne isn't as bad as it was when I was in middle school but it's still terrible!
Acne medication? I have had some acne problems for like the past few months and i want to know what are so creams or medications which do not require a prescription that work well?

Has anyone ever heard that drinking whole milk can cause acne? My son has had bad acne for the past several years. We've had him on prescription medication and now on ProActiv. A few days ago, he realized that he had not drunk any milk for about a week and his complextion was looking better. He drank milk again and started to break out. He thinks there is a connection. Is this an alergic reaction?
Does having facials irritate your skin more while on prescription for acne? I have began using Differin (topical treatment) and Soloydn (antiboitic) like a month ago, but I still have pimples every now and then, not bad like before though and I have tons of blackheads now more than ever. I was thinking of getting facials to get rid of that problem, but would that make my skin worse, as i am already taking other medications? Please help...I need to get rid of this pimple situation.
What is the best Product for Acne? I've used Proactive, Netrogena, Acnexus and more. Are scrubs the best? What about Salicylic Acid vs. Benzoyl Peroxide? What about prescription medications? What is the best way to fight acne?
Does Proactiv acne Medication really work?? I have tried a lot of products and I work at a CVS that is why i have tried them all but they really don't work I went to a dermatologist and he gave me a prescription and it isn't working either so Ima give proactiv a shot. Does it really work?? Plz give details because I really need to know if my money is going to the right direction
acne medication causes skin to come off with eyebrow waxing? I had my eyebrows waxed for the first time today and, although my eyebrows look pretty great i am not particularly thrilled with the missing skin around them. my stylist said it might 'scab a little' because the wax 'pulled the skin a little' she then asked me if i used anything on my skin, and i told her about my differen gel (adapalene) +benzoyl peroxide face wash and low dose antibiotic (doxycycline) my stylist then informed me that in the future i should stop using those medications two weeks before waxing, and probably shouldnt wax until i'm done taking them. now this is all well and good, although i'm not happy with how my stylist handled the situation i'm not about to make a fuss. I just want to know if it was really my acne medications that would cause this. I don't use my differen gel around my eyes, and i have a friend who takes very similar prescriptions and waxes her eyebrows frequently with no problem. has anyone had a similar experience? It's also important to note that my skin is very fair (more so than my friend) and my antibiotic prescription is not the same as my friend whose situation i am comparing mine to. http://i30.tinypic.com/34t6a74.jpg this is a (blurry! poorly lit!) picture of the damage. it's hard to see, but the patches of affected skin are pinkish, shiny, and raw. There was initially some swelling but it has since gone down.
How can I improve my acne? I had to stop taking my prescription medication, because I plan on getting pregnant soon, and after I stopped taking it my acne came right back. What can I use that wouldn't be harmful to my baby?
How do you feel about prescription medication????? Besides life saving medications, how do you feel about the slew of medications on the market? Do you think doctors are over-prescribing? How do you feel about the side effects and animal testing? I'm in two prescriptions right now and I'm wondering If I should continue taking them for my acne. Spironolactone 50mg (known to cause tumors in laboratory animals) minocin 25mg Why would my doctor prescribe such an intense drug for non-life threatening acne. I asked her and she said they were fine. I'm a vegan, actually... But thanks for relaxing me about the scrip fears. Also just because the medication I'm taking was tested ten years ago doesn't mean the same company isn't testing new drugs on BEAGLES every single day. Google Huntingdon Life Sciences, for one. That's bristol meyers squibb, pfizer, et al. Thanks Though! I agree with you somewhat!
Anyone know a good product for acne? I've tried Proactiv, Clean and Clear and most of the better known products, and have had no results. I've also been on prescription medicine for a year, and have had no results with that. (Evoclin and Solodyn) Know of any kind of acne medication that works?
What to do about my exremely dry skin? I am 14 and take prescription medication for the acne I used to suffer with. Though the medication I am using (Retina Micro) has worked , there is a problem. I was told to use the medication for four years and that my dry skin would be a normal side effect. This is my first time of use during the winter and the somewhat cold weather in New Orleans makes matters so much worse. Before the winter, noone could tell I had dry skin (I would just put lotion on one or two times throughout the day). Now, my lotion routine no longer works as well. This problem has started within the past few days, so none of my friends have seen it. Can someone tell me something I can do over the Thanksgiving holiday?
do acne pimples have medications(cure)because have had enough of it for three years.it makes my face horrible? acne pimples has been on my face since 2004, its makes my look horrible and also lots of black heads. they are really painful. i have tried all facial washes and scrubs and also anti -pimple face washes but they are still there even giving me more black heads. Can someone tell me any medication or prescription to cure my acne-pimples. Pls dont tell me is maturity because have had enough of it for about three years. I want a clear and smooth face.i dont really think this is maturity because its taking so long to clear up and i also tried not to eat margarine and oil.
(yes i know that it a lot of stuff but my skin just started clearing up after about 6 months and i don't want it to get worse because i am not using the benzaclin)
Help for peeling skin? I just started using a prescription acne medication on my face and it's making my skin peel. What should I do about it? I can't scrub it very much because it will get irritated. I think I am only going to juse my medication every other day from now on.
Acne and Rosasia/ face mask!? I have red skin. When I don't get enough sleep, I kind of break out alot. I really need help. What are some really good acne medications. Preferably not prescription. I would also like some face mask recepies.
Can I use Clearasil (acne treatment) to help make my sty go away? As some of you may already know, I have had a sty for the last few months now. All the remedies I've tried haven't worked so far (the doctor, warm compresses, tea, milk, prescription anti-biotic medications, you name it). So, now I'm thinking about throwing some Clearasil on my eyelid. The theory is: If the sty is like a pimple, then acne treatment products ought to clear it up. My only problem is: Why hasn't anyone ever thought of this idea before? Am I missing something?
Prescription acne medication? I'm almost 16 so i know acne is "just gonna happen". But this is getting ridiculous. I don't have severe cystic acne, but enough to have low self esteem issues. I've used neutrogena, clean and clear, cetaphil, and clearisil, all with no help. I've used acne treatment gels, with the same minimal result. I've used tea tree oil, and proactiv both of which are EXTREMELY drying. Proactiv burnt my skin and after I stopped using it, (used for about 3 months) my skin got a lot worse. I switched to tea tree oil which is also extremely drying and similar to proactiv, if I don't use it for 1 day, my skin looks horrible. I used to get nasty white heads on my chin and around my mouth and upper lip, which have stopped but have been replaced with small bumps, some not visible to the naked eye, all over my face. i get red zits that aren't popable and leave scars. What can a doctor do for me at this point? I use the neutrogena wave now which makes the small areas of my cheek, that are unaffected by acne, really soft. But I need a real solution, I've used home remedies as well. I don't want to use something that I'll have to use for the rest of my life. With proactiv and tea tree oil, if you stop using it, you become worse than what you started with.
Acne Wash + Prescription Medications? Is it okay to use a salicylic acid acne wash along with prescription acne medication? The prescription medication I'm using is .025% Tretinoin Gel (morning) and 2% Erythromycin Solution (night). Thanks! I am not looking for acne solutions I'm just asking is it fine to use them both because it says to ask a doctor if you are using other acne medication and I don't have time to contact my doctor.
Dry skin problem.? Alright, so for a long time I've been using this prescription acne medication because last May I had mild acne, but since the summer, I've had pretty much flawless skin. But now that winter has come about, my face becomes very dry. The medication is a 5% Benzoyl Peroxide cream combined with a few other things. Just wondering what I can do to moisturize my skin? And please no "Use moisturizer" because that will just help cause acne and please no elaborate house-hold remedies. Maybe a pill or something I can change in my diet. And Btw. I'm a guy. I don't wear make-up. -_-
Acne from shaving? I have acne prone skin. I used prescription medication to clear it up. My face has been clear for almost a year. BUT i still break out every once in a while from shaving. It happens about once a month. I will shave one day and by the afternoon i will see signs of a break out. The by the next day i have a really big, swollen, nasty, whitehead on my upper lip area. It is red all around it and looks just horrible. The whole area is swollen up. I also get it on the area above my chin. It takes about five days to clear up. What can i do to prevent this?
Best foundation?? I really need a new foundation. I have porcelain skin, meduim/dark brown hair, and brown eyes. I have a few blackheads on my nose and chin and my skin is really red (due to prescription acne medications). Thanks a bunch! Also, I'd like something that lasts a long time cuz I'm a busy person...lol!
Murad Acne Complex? Please answer!? I'm 16 and i've been using different prescription medications and products on my acne for about a year and a half. It has helped clear it a little, but nothing has been consistent. I'm desperate for a product that will clear it all. I'm not interested in trying proactiv because i've heard it's more for people with very mild acne. I've heard good things about Murad, though. Anyone experienced with it? Thanks!
Acne medications.? I am currently using sulfur acne medication(sulfacet-r)...But i recently got a new prescription for retin-a micro..which i wont be getting untill later this week.. should I still apply my current medication to my problem areas..or should i let my skin rest ..so to speak..untill i receive my new medication.(retin-a micro)????
Adult onset acne solutions? As a teenager, my face was perfect. Around the age of 20, I started getting acne. Now I am 35 and have been battling it for 15 years. The breakouts are sometimes mild, sometimes severe (I am going through a severe period now). In 2003, I switched to Proactiv and it worked wonders...but as of 6 months ago, it seems to quit working and I can count about 10 very large red bumps on my face now. (Yucky to look at). I'm convinced I have a hormonal issue causing this - yes, it does strike more at a certain time of the month. BUT, my question to you today is for those of you who have this problem...or know of someone with this problem...what have you done to make it better? Please be specific...and if a prescription drug, please let me know that as well (I'm not against asking my doctor for the prescription). P.S. - I'd love to hear back from anyone recently prescribed with the new birth control pill/acne medication Yaz. I think it was just approved by the FDA. I have tried the dermatologist in the past...he/she never helped much. The topical cream dries out skin, makes it tight and HURTS. The antibiotics didn't seem to do anything. Everything I did find a (temporary) solution, it was OTC.
