I used Differin and Duac (both acne medication) before I found out I was pregnant. Is my baby ok..? Hi, I have acne and was on acne medication using Differin and Duac before I found out I was pregnant. I used these product at least 2 to 3 weeks into my pregnancy. I then stopped and was advised that benzoyl peroxide was safe which I used Oxy cleanser 3 times in my 7th week where I was later told that wasn't safe either. Now I am worried about the fetus. Have I caused too much damage already?
Can medication a guy takes that can cause birth defects effect the baby? My boyfriend takes really strong acne medication. On the label it says it can cause birth defects. But is this only if your the girl thats taking it. Or does it mean for the guy too? Will it mess up his sperm or something??

Acne medication in pregnancy? I am 9 weeks pregnant with my second child. I have been using a daily moisturizer with salicylic acid in it, to prevent acne, for years now. Not even thinking, I've been using the moisturizer throughout the beginning of this pregnancy. I read the other day that it is not good to use acne medications during pregnancy because it can cause defects to the baby. Has anyone else used this during pregnancy? If so, what was the outcome? Thank you :) Also, I do not plan on using this anymore. I already bought a new cream, that does not have acne medication in it. I just want to know if the exposure that has already been made will cause any problems.
acne medication and pregnancy? I have been taking prescribed medicine for more than 15 years for acne - including 4 courses of Roaccutance many years ago. For the last few years I have maintained good skin by taking Oxytetracycline. However, I have just got married and we hope to start a family within the next 2 years, so I have stopped taking the medication in order to 'clean' my system of the drug. I've only been off it 2 months, but already my skin has got very bad again - even though I'm nearly 32. My face is like an oil slick for most of the day. I am distraught because I had hoped by skin would have dried out by this stage. Is there ANY medication that is safe to take if you are trying for a baby?
how long does it take for medication to completely flush out of your body? I am taking medication for acne right now that is not recommended for pregnancy, if I stopped taking it right now how long should I wait till it's safe for my husband and I to start trying to have a baby?
getting rid of acne scars without microdermabrasion? my husband had really bad acne, he took medication from the doctor to get rid of it, and it's completely gone now. the problem is, in his eyes he see's no difference because he does have acne scars.. we have a baby on the way so we can not afford microdermabrasion at this moment.. But we were wondering if there is an over the counter cream or something that will fade the scars so they aren't as noticeable. thanks!!
There is a slight chance I could be pregnant - what do I do about my acne medications? I am married and we are not necessarily trying to have children, but we're not trying NOT to either. Anyway, I realized after the fact that we were unprotected on a day I was fertile, so there is a chance I could be pregnant, though it is too early to do a test. What do I do about my acne medications? I take Retin A and Benzacyclin - both a creams that I use at the momen for prevention. I haven't had a break-out in several months, but my dermatologist wants me to keep taking them for a few more months for prevention. I saw that Retin A MIGHT be risky, but it isn't for sure. However, I haven't really found anything on Benzacyclin either way, and I don't have the piece of paper that tells you its warnings anymore. What should I do? I mean, I know women try to have a baby for months before getting pregnant, so are the chances even that high that I am prego? Should I just lay off the meds for a few weeks until I can do the test and hope that my skin doesn't break out? I'm also interviewing for jobs, so I want my skin to look as good as possible.

Topical Acne Medications and Pregnancy? I'm 13 weeks pregnant and have been using Clearasil Adult Tinted Treatment Cream for spot treatment for the last year or two, including my pregnancy to this point. I just read that acne medications are dangerous and shouldn't be used, but this is the first time I've heard this! Still scares me though. The active ingredient for mine is sulfur resorcinol (1% resorcinol and 8% sulfur). I tried to search but found nothing on this medication...only benzoyl peroxide and astringents. Could this have been really bad for the baby? I plan on asking my Dr soon, but my next appt. is a week from now. Thanks.
How can I improve my acne? I had to stop taking my prescription medication, because I plan on getting pregnant soon, and after I stopped taking it my acne came right back. What can I use that wouldn't be harmful to my baby?
About how long does it take for acne medications to show results? I am currently using acne free, a 3 step program I bought from Walmart. I have been using it for about 4 weeks. I would like to know about how long it take to see a clear face with any type of medications, to figure out if I need to wait a couple more weeks or just call my doctor for a dermatologist referral. thanks. I am seeing small baby step progress, and I didn't expect much more than that. So far, I see that i do have smoother skin where I am not affected by acne and I have only seen one new pimple within the past couple of days. Are those good signs or should I be expecting more at this point?
Why so much conflicting information regarding information during pregnancy? I'm trying to do my research to make sure everything I'm doing is right and safe for my baby, but it's so difficult because every source I turn to tells me something different! Some say it's ok to highlight my hair, others say no, some say it's okay for me to use acne medication, others warn against it. It seems like this is the case for every topic I research. Why is there so much conflicting information?!
Found out today im pregnant, took antibiotics before the pregnancy test and stopped. baby will be fine? I took antibiotic medication for my acne. I thought I was pregnant so I stopped taking the medication 3 days before I took my pregnancy test. Will my baby be fine? I heard it was worser to be taking medication during the whole pregnancy. Thanks. I was using doxycycline

How can I get rid of these acne looking rash bumps? They're on my hairline, jawline and under my cheekbones My skin has suddenly become very sensitive, probably from the combination of medications that I am on. So much so that recently the only thing I've found that doesn't irritate my skin is baby products. I can't get an appointment with a dermatologist for nearly 2 months. Does anyone know anything about these bumps that look like small pimples but are more like a rash? They come and go on my skin, but now they won't go away! Also, this is strange for me, because prior to this year I have never been allergic to anything
Acne while breastfeeding? I had trouble with acne during my pregnancy, and was prescribed a topical medication safe for use during pregnancy. It didn't really work and I discontinued using it. Now, I have persistent breakouts but am also breastfeeding my baby. I'd like to know: Have you had acne while breastfeeding, and how did you treat it? I plan to visit my doctor to ask about treating it, but would like to hear from any others who might have dealt with this.

Acne during pregnancy? I have developed bad acne on my back during my pregnancy. The dr. said I cannot use any medications to help clear it up. Did anyone else get this? What did you do? Does it go away after the baby is born?

Face breakout, could it be acne or something else?? I'm a 25 year old female on no medications. I have a 1, 3 year old and am on the Mirena bc. I never really had issues with acne before. Over last few weeks my face is breaking out, it doesn't seem to be acne. My forehead and cheeks are getting raised bumps that almost itch, hurt. I know it may sound crazy but it almost looks more like my baby's diaper rash bumps then pimples. Any ideas what could be the cause of this and if I should seek a primary care doctor or more dermatolory field??? I haven't started any new soaps but I did stop using makeup a little after the bumps started to make sure it wasn't clogged poors or anything. My face is not dry and they are lots of little ones. I am stressed (buying a house and lots of big changes) but i didn't think the changes were affecting me any.
Accutane & Pregnancy?? HELP!!? How long do you have to wait to get pregnant after taking Accutane? I keep hearing different lengths of times and it concerns me...I mean, I feel like if I decide to have a child one day, my baby could be born with birth defects all b/c I wanted to take an acne medication?!! Has anyone gotten pregnant after Accutane? I would discuss this with my derm except she doesn't really seem to have many answers. Treats my concerns as somewhat illegitimate. Kinda makes me feel like I'm crazy or something. I tell her my my leg has been hurting a lot and she says, Its Nothing! Dont worry about it, it will go away!! Is Accutane going to complete clear my skin? Even old scarring? Sorry for the StoryBook!! I just have lots of questions and would like answers from people who have actually taken the medication...
Why are my birth control pills causing me to break out? I have been on birth control for about six years now (Since I was 17). I was on the Depo shot for 2 1/2 years, I was on Levlen for 3 years, and I was on Ortho tri cyclen as of present. Since being on birth control I have had mild acne but I just thought that it was just me. I've been to the dermatologist a countless number of times and i've tried just about every acne medication out there. I went on vacation and forgot my BC pills. When I got back home I was just gonna wait for my period to start again and start back on pills that Sunday. In the process of waiting for my period to come (about 3 weeks) my skin has become completely clear and has never looked better. So i'm thinking it's the birth control that are breaking me out. I dont want to go back on them but at the same time I dont want to wind up with a baby either. Should I go on a very low dose of BC pills? I have a Doctor's appt. but I just wanted to get a second opinion or see if anyone has had the same experience.
Has anyones child ever had allergic reactions to these medicines??? My son is 6 weeks and has reflex and colic they put him on Axid and levicin (Hyoscyamine) drops approximately 2 weeks ago he started getting little tiny red bumps all over his face and head I have had him to the peditrician and they said that it is baby acne. Now it does not look like it to me it almost looks like diaper rash on his face. This is my second child but my first never had anything like this happen to her and she never had to be on any medications. Anyone had simiular expirence? Thanks.
i dont know what to do!? i am currently on accutane. a very strong medication for acne. i am supposed to be using two forms of birth control because it is absolutely necessary that i do not get pregnant. if i do, the baby would have serious side effects and i would most likely have to abort. my two forms of birth control are birth control pills and condoms. on sunday night i had sex and although i am on the pills, we started with a condom but ended w/out it and my partner still cummed inside of me. on a few days i have taken the pills a little later than the set time but i have never missed a pill. also, i took an herbal stress medicine for a few days without realizing that it could decrease the effect of the pill. i went to the pharmacist to get plan b but he told me that he thought it wasnt necessary. i am having doubts though and tomorrow will be the last day i can get plan b, even if it wont be as effective as desired bc its the third day already. i took a blood test today but its only been 2 days...
Alternatives to Differin in pregnancy? Has anyone found a good alternative to topical Differin during pregnancy? It's one of the "Class C" drugs which hasn't been extensively tested, but I get cystic acne and Differin is the only medication that it has ever responded to (and it completely cleared my acne). I have tried a generic Proactiv and it made my acne worse. Of course a healthy baby is well worth a year of acne (9 months + trying). BTW, I talked with my dermatologist and OB/Gyn Nurse Practitioner, who both told me that there is virtually no risk with topical Differin since it's minimally absorbed into the bloodstream...but most of what I read on the web says that since the risks are unknown, it's best not to use it.
dianette and other contraceptive pills....side effects? ive been having irregular period ever since i started during primary school, and a 1/2 years later i started taking microgynon(if thats how u spell it?) on and off untill 2 years ago. now ive started to take dianette for my bad acne and also to regulate my period - because i have a mild form of PCOS. what i really want to know is, how likely is this to effect me having babies in the future? i really want to have kids, and im only taking these medication for my acne and period because irregular periods are a cause for non pregnancy as well...i would rather not take the medicine. thanks
What is your opinion on Accutane? If you don't know what Accutane is... Accutane is a medication for really bad acne, but has a lot of side effects. They are rare but serious. They consist of deformed pregnancies or stillborn (if you are sexually active, you must take two forms of effective birth control). You could get depression, suicide thoughts, and hallucinations. There is also the chance your hair could curl, your liver could fail, you could lose red or white blood cells, it could stunt your growth if you take it at a young age, you can get very dry skin, and i'm sure there is more. Keep in mind that all these side effects are RARE except the deformed babies and dry skin.
Cruddy skin, been given a choice by the doctor, help? For my acne (back, chest, face) I am currently about to begin taking quite strong medication. However, this is where the problem comes in. If this new medication doesn't suceed, it is very likely that I will have to start taking Isotretinoin. It is a very, very effective treatment for acne and clears up the majority of peoples acne. The side effects are as follows: if I somehow end up pregnant whilst on the medication there will be no choice but a termination as the baby could be born with severe birth defects - eg: no arms or legs. This is fine because I am not sexually active. But the list goes on: it can cause depression, can cause very dry eyes (so I'd be rendered to glasses, unable to continue wearing them until the period is over), very dry skin, frequent nose bleeds, muscle aches and pains, mood changes - can cause depression/symptoms of mental disorders, headaches, sickness, tiredness. Less common effects are changes in vision, slight loss of hearing, jaundice, anaemia, seizures, swollen glands, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, blood in urine, If what I'm on doesn't work, I will have to take Isotretinoin for 4-6 months, after which, the majority of the side effects will disappear and I will (hopefully) be left with beautifully clear skin. The question is, if all else fails, should I do it? I really don't know. Not having clear skin makes me feel so ugly and down about my appearence, but I don't know if I can put myself through 6 months of possible hell. *I meant that I wouldn't be able to wear my contact lenses and I'd have to go back to wearing glasses :D
My face is really dry, any good moisturizers for a 14 year old? I like to use plant based products. Every night I use this plant mask, but my cheeks are extremely dry. I have tried baby lotion, Nivea extra dry cream, and Eucerin. Any lotions or anything that helps with extremely dry skin. I don't want it to make my face oily either. If there are any products that you use that help enhance your skin and make it look more smoother, please let me know. I really want to get my skin moisturized. I don't have any acne either so I don't need any moisturizure with medication in it either.
Almost 1 weeks overdue??? SO my man and I have tried everything to start laour... walks, sex, spicey foods, bumpy cars, everything we've heard... we've tried... My due date was may 1st... and my doctor is telling me that i have to wait till the 14th to even think about being induced! I've had a really terrible pregnancy... all day sickness for the ENTIRE time... 5 kidney stones at christmas that I had to pass with no medication... I've had an infection throughtout the whole thing.. kidney infection, bladder, yeast... you name it!!! Not to mention terrible acne all over my back and chest and face! I NEED this baby out!! Is it really selfish to ask for an induction a little earlier than 2 weeks overdue?? Oh and I have another infection right now that is trying to get cleared up... but they just keep coming back and its really doing a number on my baody....
Prednisolone controls Lupus... but side effects destroying her skin elasticity causing deep depression. SOS!? My friend has Arthritis + Lupus, LES. She takes Prednisolone, which causes side effects as moonface she already has. Now she developed heavy acne in her neck. To makes things worse, her legs, arms, shoulders and stomach are loosing their skin elasticity, since her collagen is altered. Common movements produce pain, and on top, her skin looks so thin and unflexible, that you think it will tear at any second. You can see superficial damage on her tommy as if she had given birth to 3 babies at once. Not exaggerating. Her legs and shoulders got scares and bruises. Her depression grows and we are so scared. Doctors are treating the Lupus, but dont see any importance on the described side effects, since thats the drugs effect. But I believe ANY woman needs to feel good about herself, and each time people stare wierdly at her, i feel like I' m being whipped. If this conditions had some medication or treatment, she'd be able to go back to normal life, work and friends. SOS!
