What is the best acne treatment for adult acne? I am 45 years old and I have battled an acne problem since I was a teenager. At times it would be OK but then flare up again. For the past 4 years I have used Proactiv and although it helps, I still have flare ups. Has anyone tried any other products out there other than Proactiv and has had any success?
Can someone recommend an adult acne treatment that works? I'm 37 and had always suffered from acne as a teenager. However I'm now the ripe old age of 37 and have started to break out in Acne all over my face. What's causing this? What treatments are available that are specifically for adults.
What is your favorite acne treatment, for adult acne prone skin? Also, I have oily skin most of the time. I do use proactive solution, but it doesn't work that well with my skin anymore. Also, when I was a teen I took acutane for three months and it only got rid of my most severe cystic acne, but I sill have overall breakouts all the time, and I just turned 26. So if you know of a really great product that works, please let me know. Especially the nonprescription methods.
What is a truly effective treatment for adult acne? I have had acne since my late teenage years, I am now 27. Very tired of looking at it. I've tried proactiv, and all sorts of over the counter treatments, and I hate taking oral medications for fear of side effects. Is there a non-invasive approach to dealing with acne? Is an antibiotic treatment regimen really helpful or will it just be a waste of my time and only make me more bacteria-resistant?
What is the best treatment for adult acne? I am 29 years old and have started getting acne all around my mouth. I have tried everything and nothing has seemed to work. Can anyone suggest anything that I can use at home or even suggest treatments that i can buy. I am desperate!! What are some examples of enzymes that I can take??
Good homeopathic treatment for adult acne? My hormones are going crazy and I have adult acne, I am too old to have this many zits!!! Any homeopathic...or ideas that worked for you. I am not taking a pill I just want topical or natural type solutions. Thanks!

Adult acne? I'm 29 & have been battling skin problems since around 22 or so. I would classify my skin as "oily" but also very sensitive...most "acne" treatments really irritate my skin. I've gone to a dermatologist, but talk about harsh! I've had better luck w/ over the counter stuff. Has anyone else managed adult acne w/ something that they love? Proactive is too harsh for me (even the sensitive version.) I'm been using Murad's sensitive skin regimen, & although it does a good job of not irritating my skin, I can't say that it's doing much to actually clear it up either...thanks!

Is this adult acne? Can it be prevented? What is the best treatment? I am a 57 year old female and in the last few years I have been getting bumps on my face that seem like pimples forming but they never come to a head (actually one did after about 2 years). Plus, they never seem to go away. I have about 6 or 8 of them. Anybody else have this?
Info about acne treatment with 2%Resorcinol and 8%Sulfur? First time using it (instead of salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide) and it worked well! It's a cream by Clearasil and labeled as "effective treatment for adult acne". What makes this especially effective for adult acne? What exactly is Resorcinol and what's its function? I know Sulfur dries out the acne but does it do anything else? I know benzoyl peroxide ages the skin. Does this? Dou you need to wear sunblock over this like benzoyl peroxide?

Is there an EFFECTIVE over-the-counter or home remedy treatment for adult acne? I have tried Proactiv and AcneFree and Clearasil and Biore and Clean&Clear and Neutrogena. None of them worked after months of use. I am 23 and have had acne since I was 11. My insurance doesn't cover acne medication and it's really expensive, so that's not an option, unfortunately. My acne is severe, sometimes the pimples get so inflamed that they are more like a cyst and really painful. If I have one on my chin or around my mouth I cannot open my mouth all the way because the acne hurts so much. Do you know of an over-the-counter or home remedy for adult acne? Where can I find it and how expensive is it?
Personal experiences with adult acne? Treatments, medications that have worked? I've tried every otc medication out there, retin a, vitamin B, vitamin E, vitamin A, oral antibiotic and more. Nothing works. Has anyone ever tried a medication that has actually worked? I'm trying to make an appointment for a dermatologist soon, but I've been to a dermatologist that didn't help me at all. I want to be informed/equipped with knowledge of what I want/what might work.
Adult Acne....Best remedy/treatment???????? I am a female in my late 30's but my skin is starting to look like that of a teenager! I never had acne this bad or painful before...mild breakouts when a teen, but never like this. I have red, sore lumps, no white-heads. Serious answers only please, as this is painful enough..... Thanks.
What do you do for adult acne ...AKA "roscea"??? Help...I have never had pimples in my life and now I have these little red bumbs on my face. Others have called them roscea. They don't react to Pro-Active or the run of the mill acne treatment because it drys my adult skin out!
Treatment for adult onset acne (Rosacea)? I've battled rosacea for years and my dr put me on Metrogel, which seemed to just make my face worse. He changed me to 100mg tetracycline once a day about a month ago. My face is completely clear, however I have a couple of questions for those that might know: 1. My face has a ruddy kind of look to it. Anyone else on this treatment experienced this? 2. I just feel kind of tired and slightly crappy all the time since he put me on it. Is that normal? I hate to change because this has been the first thing that has worked, but am worried about side effects from long term use. Anybody else on this treatment?
What over the counter cleanser helps with adult acne? Alright, my husband used to see a dermatologist for his adult acne. Since he joined the military, the Army dermatologists have totally messed up his skin. They took him off of the antibiotics that were working and put him on something else. It totally irritated his skin and so he stopped treatment altogether. Does anyone out there know of a good over the counter cleanser and/or acne kit that works on this kind of acne?
Adult Acne washes and treatments? I'm going on 21 in a few months and ever since I turned 20 my acne has been REALLY bad.. I need to know what I can buy at a regular store that isn't over the top expensive and actually works.. I'm talking face washes and treatments. Thanks.
Is Brewer's Yeast a good vitamin treatment for acne? My grandmother insists that this is the ultimate cure. I have been taking some, but don't see a result. Is this a futile attempt to get rid of adult acne? It's not very severe. What is this vitamin generally good for? My tongue peels on a regular basis - I still don't know why - but it's helped that a lot.
Acne products for adult acne? What type of acne products do you use to treat your adult acne? Has anybody tried Murad's system, in particular? Pros and cons of whatever acne treatment you use? Thank you!! :) Sorry, I should have said for the ProActive users...my brother uses ProActive. I have tried his and I do not like it for my skin. It dried my skin pretty badly and caused alot of redness. So, any recommendations are welcome besides ProActive, I guess! :) Wow, I am so glad you posted - I did not even realize Clinique had an acne line. That is definitely an option there! Thank you!! :)
If my family doesn't have a history of adult acne...why do I STILL have it at age 18??? ? I have had acne since junior high -- I have tried pretty much everything to get rid of it... when I didn't pick at it, it would pop on its own and leave scars:( My boyfriend mentions my acne every time I see him and says he loves me despite it, but I am almost 19 and still have cysts all over etc. I hardly see anyone at college with acne and although I have applied for twenty work-study jobs(in person), I never got responses...probably because of my looks because I am MUCH more qualified than 99% of the kids here. My mom said her acne was gone by age 18, and mine is still crazy!!! And I know I do not have hormonal acne because I don't have breakouts -- I AM ALWAYS BROKEN OUT!!! :( My dad has never been in my life, but my mom said he didn't have acne as an adult. I feel so ugly and waste hours in the mirror per week merely looking at my blemishes and wondering what other acne treatment I will blow my money on... I'm thinking i'll try Zeno. Anyways...anyone have any ideas why I still have acne? I had a very stressful childhood and am still stressed because I have to pay for college and still can't find a job and do NOT want to move back in with my mom and be yelled at constantly:( Why is my skin even worse than it was when I was twelve and had acne? Am I just cursed? Thanks.
I'm a 14 year old boy and I have a moderate case of acne. What's the best treatment for this? I have acne on my chin, and both sides of my face. It's mainly red, a few whiteheads here and there but I only have blackheads on my nose. Proactiv doesn't work for me and I recently started using AcneFree but I found out it's an adult acne system. I am desperate to find something that will suit me. Everything works for me right away then fades or stops working after a while. I see Neutrogena has a ton of products and I don't really want to buy them all and figure which one's the best from there. Please someone tell me what's the best acne treatmen for early teenagers. Thanks!
How can i get rid of the rash on my nose? Every summer I get a red rash on my nose that looks like acne but it's not, it's just many tiny/medium sized red bumps especially on the tip of my nose. I don't know how to get rid of it and it just breaks out randomly and won't go away. This year, it seems to have started after I was outside in the sun one day and got worse everyday after that. My acne medicine doesn't help it and my Aveeno moisturizer seems to have made it worse over night. I also use a Neutrogena Adult Acne Treatment set every other night to help my breaking out and get rid of my old acne scars and was wondering if that could possibly help or make it worse. Any ideas how I could clear this up because it seems like it may be spreading to my cheeks a little as well. I'm pretty sure it's not rosacea but I'm not sure. I've been to a dermatologist (for my acne) and she never identified me as having any signs of rosacea. Any ideas are much appreciated!
What is a good facial moisturizer that is oil-free? I have been using the Loreal adult acne treatment and it is drying out my skin around my eyes and nose. When I cut back and only use it once a day I get breakouts. I have always had pretty bad acne and my skin is now the clearest it has ever been. I don't want to stop using the only product I have found that works, but I do need a moisturizer that I can put on underneath my makeup so my sensitive spots won't dry out.
Why do I always get the same pimples. Same spots, same size, same types. I have annoying adult acne.? I have had an acne problem since I was 10 years old. I remember being called zit faced in 5th grade, so at that age I was already getting enough pimples to bring attention to cruel girls. Anyway, my question may seem strange, but I literally recognize my pimples. I have one on my left cheek bone that will be hard and pointy. I have one in the middle of my jaw bone that spreads and takes about two weeks to heal. I have one by my nose that is hard and never comes to a head, but goes away on its own. Etc. My skin is never clear. I have pimples all the time, but I wonder what it is that causes these recurring ones. I am 29, female and have been on every acne treatment a dermatologist can offer. People stop me in the street to offer me solutions. I have given up on all of that and am convinced my problem is hormonal. I was curious if these recurring pimples could be a sign of something hormonal. Also, I am looking for an acne discussion board. Does anyone know of a good one?
Adult acne still?!!!? What are some good acne treatments for me as an African American female who has acne in the chin, and mouth area? I am left with dark black splotches all over from the acne flare ups. My doc has tried Retina A, tetracycline, birth control pills, and differen gel. I have also tried nuetrogena products, ceta phil, skin bleacher, coco butter and it is still appearing and now worse than ever since I got my tubes tied. I am 30 yrs old will this acne ever end? It is very embarrasing and makes me want to stay hidden. People always say I am a cute girl and then suggest good acne doc or medicine

What's a great acne cream or treatment? ...If you are not an adult, and your acne is not major but you would still like to get rid of it? Another question: Does putting on Benzyl Peroxide before bed reduce breakouts?
how to get rid of adult acne for good?? I'm a 32 yr old mom of two.I still have acne! I began having acne at 11 yrs old & it wont leave me alone! besides going to a dermatologist or getting prescription medicine what is the best way/treatment to calm it down and get it gone for good?
I have been on co-cyprindiol (or 'the pill') for almost 6 months now, to treat my adult acne, but in vain! :( I am 23 years old. I have had acne for almost 8 years now and have tried everything. This was my last resort. I was really hopeful about this. While it has reduced my PMS and heavy flow, it has actually exacerbated my acne. My GP had told me that it would take at least a year for the effects to show. She also said that sometimes, mid-treatment, the acne increases and then it subsides. Is this true? I am really at my wit's end, as I currently have the worst out burst of extremely painful and red acne, which is not only uncomfortable, but try as I may, it is affecting my self esteem a lot. :( Also, is it true that for some women, this pill actually increases the acne indefinitely? I really hope, I will not be one of them, as I feel that my face has spoilt beyond repair. :'(. Your answers will be very much appreciated.
Acne treatment? can anyone suggest a good acne treatment. I have used proactiv, but my skin is very sensitive to it & I broke out in a rash. I never had acne when I was young, but now as an adult I seem to be breaking out more in the T-zone area. can anyone relate???
Acne.org is the best site for acne help? Since there are so many questions about acne here, I wanted to share a great site that has almost 80,000 members. It's free to join if you want to ask a question, but you can also read all of the posts without joining. Here it is: acne.org/messageboard Here are the categories that you can use to ask a question or read other people's help: Mild to moderate acne - whiteheads, papules and pustules Severe acne - cysts and nodules Blackheads & non-inflamed acne Body acne Adult acne Rosacea & facial redness Over-the-counter acne medications Prescription acne medications Nutrition & holistic health General acne products and oily skin issues Light/laser acne treatments Acne research Emotional and psychological effects of acne Cosmetics & style Scar treatments Red marks left after acne No question here. Just being helpful! :D A question mark is automatically added to whatever you type in the question box, so that's why it's there, LOL. I've been dealing with skin issues since hit puberty, and I'm now 36. I WISH it had gone away after 6 years. But this site gave me great info on lessening it greatly! :)
Who's got some home acne treatments? I've got really bad adult acne. The doctor said it's cuz my liver can't clean my blood 100%. But there are ways to tone down my acne. What are some home made remedies you know? I've tried honey and it works alright. But I'm not a fan of sleeping with stuff on my face. It's worked better than the $600 of meds I've used. I'm in the sun constantly, I sweat all day, I some times rip zits open when I shave daily and I usually sleep on my side so half my face is covered by a pillow.
Sudden Adult Acne?? The last few days, my face has been throwing a fit! I never had acne during my teenage years besides a few bumps or blackheads here and there (I'm 24 now). It seems like since last weekend I've been getting these large red bumps on my face- and I'm having a hard time leaving the house (even for a lunch date)! Even with the use of "on the spot" treatments, it seems like they are spreading. It seemed like it started when I had switched face washes and thought maybe I was having a bad reaction- so I just switched again hoping it will take care of it. They don't seem to have a "core" or "head" and are just large red bumps under the skin that won't surface. My concern is how fast they seem to be spreading. I've been stressed and my menstrual cycle has been a little off too, so stress may be the cause, but I've NEVER had a reaction like this before. Any quick-fixes, remedies or advice?? It's terribly uncomfortable, especially since I usually have really good skin. :( Thanks!!
SLS-free Acne treatments? Hi all, I have adult acne and incredibly sensitive skin, which always reacts very badly to acne treatments (including prescription and over-the-counter), facial washes etc. I've tried natural remedies such as honey and egg masks etc, but have had no joy. I heard about Benzoyl peroxide being very effective, but the side effects are skin irritation and redness, which has made me think it will also not be compatible with my skin. Has anyone got any experience in this, or know of any Sodium Laureth Sulphate-free products that fight acne? Thanks alot!
How effective is Proactive for acne? I have had acne for about 10 years and nothing I use seems to work. I've tried changing my diet to more natural organic foods, I don't take showers in really hot water anymore, I wash my face twice a day. I could use some suggestions for anyone about treatments people have used and also if proactive has worked for you. I'm at my wits end and I'm an adult now and this is so embarrassing for me! Thank you.
Which medication should i use?? Ok i have a few bright red pimples on my face..1 is a new untouched one and the other 2 i have popped..i really want them to be gone by tomarrow what should i put on them? i have...toothpaste, 10%max strength benzoly cream, salicylic acid gel stuff, and some adult acne tinted treatment that dries out super fast....so should i go with the cream/gel acne stuff or one of the ones that really dry them out-toothpaste, adult tinted acne cream
Question about acne? I live in houston and I was watching fox news and they had a health segment on adult acne. It was some type of treatment where the acne was sucked out of the pores, does anyone know what this treatment is called?
I am using the Mary Kay Miracle set but am wondering...? I recently started using the Miracle set. I have adult acne, though, and am also using the Acne Treatment gel. So I am wondering, at night after i wash my face...should i just skip the night solution and moisturizer and just apply the treatment gel? I know it sounds like thats what i should do but i just want to be completely sure that i am doing everything right. Sandra D- Thank you for your comment. I agree w/ you...I am going to apply the night solution and the moisturizer and just spot treat the acne that i have. Unfortunately, i don't buy directly from a cons. I am an employee at Mary Kay and although we have info on the products we are not as knowledgeable as Consultants are and i just want to make sure that i am using them correctly so that i can get the best benefit from them.
Does anybody have cystic acne that never comes to a head and just sits below the skin? I have now suffered from adult cystic acne for 15 years have all the scars to go with this, but lately I have found that none of the sebum filled pockets under the skin are coming to a head anymore they are just sitting there and I can squeeze them and a toothpaste looking sebum comes out. I have also found my skin feels really dry so now I wondering if my skin has changed with age (close to 40) and is this why I am getting blocked pores? Also has anybody had any treatments for the large deep pocket scars (ice pick) with great sucess or any suggestions. I have to say the condition of my face is getting to me to a point I really avoid wanting to go anywhere. Maybe someone knows how I could camoflage the holes in my face without surgery as I have olive skin and much afraid of more scarring. I am also tired of going to the dermatologist and them wanting to push accutain my way plus all the antibiotics so this would not be good advice. Thanks
Do burn marks on the face go away? Earlier this year..march to be more precise, i received laser treatment (Intense pulse light) for my spots..(adults acne). The spots are calming down (thank God)...but i reacted to the laser during one of my treatments. Basically, certain areas of my face felt really hot, a burning feeling so i applied an ice pack. The areas also turned green (yes green!)..a day later it swelled into a blister and water formed inside. i let the blister harden and crust away naturally! i didnt touch it. and i applied rose hip seed oil to the areas. i now have darker pigmented marks left on the area. Will these marks go away? i feel low about it. i hate wearing concealer and even then, the marks look grey! can anyone help please? Thankyou x its been 6 months now :-(
Adult acne?!?!?!? I am going to go crazy. I am 26 and just in the last couple months I have been curesed with acne. I had acne as a teenager, but not as bad as I have now all of a sudden! My teenager acne cleared up when I was about 21. Then nothing until now! I wash my face every day, and if I put makeup on I wash my face at night to get the makeup off. I also use acne treatment gel. Not only do I look like He*l .. they hurt pretty bad too! I also have a lot of white and black heads along with the big old juicy pimples. WHAT is going on? I used to get maybe 1 pimple before my period.. but this is crazy and like I said I have had this now for a while. HELP!!!!!!!!!!! No. No new meds. Not pregnant either .. just had a pregnancy test done when I went to the OB for something.
Adult acne? Does anyone know or have any home remedies for adult acne? My friend has tried everything from over the counter facial cleaners and so forth to actually seeing a dermatologist. She has been on actutane and it did nothing for her. I am wondering if there is any types of food she can eat (other then vitamin A) foods that will help clear her skin or any other concuctions that can help. Also does anyone know of the levulan procedures? how well do they work and are they worth paying 800 dollars per treatment?
