Acne Skin Care

Is it true that using acne cream or medication can make acne worse? I've heard that using acne cream like Proactiv or Clearsil can clear acne for a few weeks but will cause it to come back, even worse and last even longer. Is this true? Also, I went to an acne treatment review website and for most acne treatment brands there are reviews that say it's amazing and also reviews that says it's horrible, so it's hard to know what product will have the best resulsts. Any advice?

Help!! My skin is really dry and is acne-prone...!!!? My skin is really dry every time after I wash my face. I think it is because I overused my acne cream. It contains sulfur as the main ingredient. The skin peels and I have to use a moisturizer. However, after a few hours, my face will become quite oily, especially around the nose area. Should I switch my acne cream to Dalacin T (lotion)? Is it good? Please give me reviews. Also, I am now on a course of antibiotics (doxycycline). I use Neutrogena Deep Clean cleansing foam to wash my face. Right now, my face has some pimples but the acne scars are quite obvious. Do topical creams get rid of them? Please help me! Thanks a lot!!

Aqueous cream good for oily skin? I've had a mild case of acne of late and ive been reading loads of reviews on the use of Aqueous cream being good for skin because its basic, smooth and free from bad stuff. Caracol Cream and My Thing? Ok, this is rather embarrassing. However, it is also rather important. I recently received my Caracol Cream under a free trial offer. I would use it on my face, but I'm going to wait until after I finish my ALA/Blue Light treatments to begin. I'm only 16, and my skin is in ok shape aside from acne, and a few wrinkles on my forehead I don't like so much. I've looked at several reviews. Caracol Cream was at the top, so I'm thinking it's fairly effective. Now onto the important part. Some of you may find this inappropriate or disturbing if not gross, but it's just medical, so please try and be of some assistance. Anyways, when I was eleven, and I first started doing that thing... that guys do... I started off (big mistake) using shampoo. I did it twice. The first time scared the crap out of me. It left bad chemical burns that destroyed my first layer of skin (I think). After the healing, there were extensive scars and fine lines on that certain area. The second time, I used conditioner after a long time of waiting. It had the same effect. It left scars as well. Somehow, my nerves went undamaged as far as I can tell, and everything underneath the first lay of skin seems to be in good shape, but the scars make me quite self conscious So... as you may have guessed by now, I'm wondering if it the Caracol Cream would help there, too. It says it uses an exfoliation process. Which I know means to remove the first layer of dead skin cells... this worries me. Would this potentially damage my nerves in my... thing? And would it possibly cause even more scarring? Either way, those scars make me self conscious. And it's a scary thing to have any kind of laser surgery in that part of your body or any other methods of scar removal. the scars are more fine lines than anything, so it's not so much any scars as wrinkles and fine lines. I expect some to be normal, but most of the ones that I have I know for a fact aren't natural to have... thanks in advance.

Are there any acne treatments for ethnic skin that works? I've had acne since the 3rd grade. I been to dermatologist and have see pharmacist and been prescribed every tetracycline (doxy,mono), clidamycin, vanoxide, retin a, differin, and tazorac. I am currently using vanoxide in the morning and tazorc in the evening. i take 2 pills of doxyxline a day. Most of the antibotics and creams I have used have messed my face. I have large pore, scarring and very oily skin. If there's not a good ethnic skin treatment, can anyone me refer me to any other acne treatment other than accutane. the various antibotics have made my skin peel alot especially in my hair and the cortisone in the vanoxide give me big painful cyst. i have use proactiv, zenmed, murad, acnefree, etc. I'ver heard about heritage skin care but i didn't see any reviews about the product other than the ones on the size and i never trust those. i'm willing to try any prescrip my physican at school can prescribe and i can try any new treatment that are at now. any reccommendations please

Doxycycline for acne? Hey, I was prescribed 25mg of doxycycline once a day. I have been on it for just over 2 weeks. During the first week my face looked clearer and things looked to be working..however during the second week i have been having major breakouts....is this because it is working?? i have never had breakouts like this in the past, and this is the worst my acne has ever looked!!! I was also prescribed differin cream to use at night, but have not started using it because i am not sure how dangerous it is...I have heard mixed reviews on it.... I am thinking that my 25mg dosage of doxycycline is low because many people take 100mg....also I am wondering how long will it take for the breakouts to stop and for my face to actually start clearing up?? I wash my face with spectro gel day and night..

Which is the best skin care system for me? [acne prone skin] NO PRO-ACTIV please!? I am 18 years of and of Asian decent (Chinese). Ever since i was in middle school, i have been using drug store brands for moisturizers, cleasers, creams, etc (olay, dove, clearasil, and the list goes on) I have oily skin, and a bit of acne. it's not major - just a few bumps, and it gets worse when i get my period.. thats when i break out the most. I dont really have a specific problem area, the only place I dont get them is on my cheeks. I get pimples quite frequently though. i'm looking to redo my whole skin care routine with possibly a skin care system? I know there's pro-activ but i want to use that as a last resort as i heard 50/50 reviews on it. Which skin care system do you recommend? I was thinking of AcneFree or Clinique. Thanks!

BP trouble? my doctor prescribe an aqueous based 5% benzoyl peroxide topical cream and tetracycline for my mild acne but i read in the information sheet that BP can form tumors? and i looked up acne.org about tetracycline and the reviews say that it's hard on the stomach and very complicated to take, plus the acne comes back after u stop taking it. i'm scared to take these prescriptions now >.< what should i do?

Treatment for pimples? I'm 27 female. I've never had acne problems as a teenager and now all of a sudden I have pimples on both sides of my face. I really don't know why this is happening, I've had stress at work before but never had breakouts. Could it be the philosophy hope in a jar face cream, I read some reviews and several people got pimples. Clearasil question! Does Acnexus work better than Proactiv? I'm 25 and have had acne for as long as I can remember. When I was in highshool I used Proactiv and it seemed to work for some time but then stop so then I saw a derm. and they gave me minocycline (antibiotic) to take daily along with some topical cream which killed my face so I stopped the topical stuff and ended up quitting the oral antibiotics too because after some time your body just becomes immune to them. I then went back to proactiv and again it worked for awhile and then stopped so I switched to Acnefree. That worked for about a year and again it stopped working. So I went back to proactiv and now it doesn't seem to be working at all. My skin is the worst that I can remember it being for some time and I just don't know what to do. I've read mixed reviews on Acnexus and I'm just wondering if it really works or not. My husband and I are trying to start a family now too so I need to be cautions of what I take. Please help
